What can one say ......... the centre of so much vile and envy by other supporters when what Man Utd have achieved is nothing short of miraculous. Barcelona are being praised from all corners of the footballing earth but for some reason Man Utd are not given the same accolade. Old Trafford celebrates yet again, and I hope they do for many years to come, so for other team supporters, get over it and hope your team can at some point surpass Utd's record, not insurmountable but a hell of a task.
Because Barcelona are better at everything than Man u. Not saying you aren't good or anything but you don't dominate teams like they do, you don't play as attractive football as they do and you don't have Messi
Obviously we are not as good as Barca, But we have won 4 of the last 5 premier league titles and been in 3 of of the last 4 champions league finals. That deserves some serious praise that we do not always get.
The wife has just pointed out to me that we also don't play in the same league .I hadn't realised that small point as I thought they had beaten us so many times everyone knew the final was just a walk in the park for Barca' .
I agree that Barca are better than United, but I think the extent to which they are better than us, or any other team for that matter, is not in proportion to the amount of additional plaudits they get. I also think Barca generally play teams that it is easier to dominate against, particularly in La Liga where almost all teams try to play a very similar style of football, which plays right to Barca's strength. If all EPL teams played a fast attacking game focusing on the wings like United do, we'd probably dominate the PL to the same extent. La Liga may be superior technically, but the EPL is far more tactically superior imo, which is why all the top clubs have struggled so much to dominate over the past couple of years. As for playing attractive football, I'd honestly much rather watch United's recent games against Blackpool and West Ham rather than Barca's latest identikit 65% possession domination of yet another team that barely even tries to tackle or disrupt them. But Messi, yeah fair point
To be fair I agree with you about Barca's playing style being quite boring. I think attacking football should contain an element of risk, as it being vulnerable makes it more exciting. Barca though play attritional football which just wears down opposition and I don't find i that fun to watch. Of course you could say that they only do that because teams just defend against them but I don't believe that. That said, you have played some pretty turgid stuff in this campaign and I would generally prefer to watch them than you-no offense
We get our fair share, like most teams do around the world. The media objectively recognises the strengths and weaknesses. But when it comes to Barca, it seems like the media subjectively creams itself over their ability to play keep-ball for around 45 minutes of every match and then rely on Messi to carve the opposition's defence open. I know I'm exaggerating a bit there, but that is what a large number of their games have looked like this season.
I would like to say I am still banned from the chatbox and I had a quick glance over to the archives where the newest post/chats are, and the first one is 'B4E is called Rory. lol.' from a peado, I mean Arsenal mod Piskie. Again, well done to your success, and have a go at Barca.
Hmmmm, rubbish. Pretty sure we are better than them at a hell of a lot of things on and off the pitch.
here's a curve ball for you Could Messi perform the way he does week in week out if he played in the premiership? Scenario - Wednesday night january black cold wet evening at say Blackburn or Wigan both already fighting the drop. Messi tries waltzing into the their goal area, he would be taken out before he got 3 yards near the box. Don't get me wrong the fella is class, but he is given far too much respect from other opponents, and would not be able to perorm half as much in the prem as he does for Barca. Just my most humble opinion.
The player who hacked him down would then get booked and Messi would get up and do it again. Face it, players like Silva, Fabregas and Nasri have proved that small players can do well in the premiership.
nothing to do with being small, Scholes is small so is Butt, but they were/are physical players, Messi is undoutbly a skillful player but the prem players would not show him ANY respect at all.
And both of those players have shown that "small" players can make it in the prem seeing as both are medal winners.
