Can't copy the words in that article

Jonas Gutierrez insisted there were "no excuses" for Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Manchester City and has now pinpointed the next two weeks as the most important period of the season.

Having edged up the table in recent weeks, Newcastle found themselves just three places and three points outside of the bottom three after their second successive league loss.

And, speaking exclusively to nufc.co.uk at the Etihad Stadium, Gutierrez said: "We have to take a few more wins. We are not going to be safe with the points that we have so we need more points.

"We have two home games which are going to be difficult for us so the next 15 days are the most important of the year."

"No excuses - we have to do better," he said.

"They have good players but we have to play better than we did today. We know that it's a hard place to come - they're the champions, they have fantastic players, but we have to start the game with a higher ambition, a higher intensity, because if not you have a defeat like today.

"I think after half time, we started playing like we should have started the first half but then I think the third goal killed us.

"But we had to attack them from the beginning, not wait until half time because normally in the Premier League it can be too late.

"We were missing important players who had injuries but we have players who can come in to do the job the same way.

"But if all the players want to play, when they have the opportunity they have to play great to not miss their chance."

Granted the players we trotted out, Simmo, Obertan looked very poor against City, but City were a class above us.

We need to do better in Lisbon no matter who plays. Jonas needs to do better than to utter gibberish about no excuses and then go on to blame the injuries we had <doh>

Can't really blame Jonas at all for Saturday, shouldn't have been playing left back. Perch was available so it made no sense employing him there against such class opposition.

Not what he was but had showed signs of life out wide recently. The work rate was back.

The other problem with Saturday was the attitude of every player on that pitch for us. The inferiority complex of playing the top sides again. They all went into their shell. Pardew has to take his share as he picked players he shouldn't have, but the players (every single one of them) have to take their share as well. It was very very poor. I expect what we got from Obertan now, but I didn't expect it from the rest. The only one who looked remotely bothered and frustrated was Yanga Mbiwa.

I am still annoyed about Saturday because City have looked vulnerable when met with high tempo pressure football. We sat back and waited to get ****ed.

Newcastle have to do better insists Jonas "Jonas has to do better,

They all have to do better, especially Mr Pardew and his abysmal team selection and tactics. Cowardly and lacking ambition and belief, not the right mentality to see us clear of the bottom of the table.
