So this is OT because I have not watched the game, and tbh don't really want this last few games, ..to be honest..the fire has just gone now....no matter what happens this season...it just aint there!!

    Anyway

Where I live, we have one of those dvd hire machines, where you swipe your card and just rent sh*te

Kids are on half term so I've watched all kinds of crap but not yet got Skyfall...

anyway, had to go through Looper, jumper, Vampire high and diary of a wimpy kid 3 in last few days...

So imagine my delight when tonight on tv I get a bit of class, in the form of Papillon. Still as good as the first time I saw it and looking at my box set, the only question I have is Midnight Express or Shawshank next ?

    ideas?

Shawshank. Anything with Morgan Freeman is uber classy in my book.

In the days when cinemas did double bills, I saw Midnight Express and Taxi Driver back to back.

    Go on, I dare you.......

Are you allowed to comment on films if you didn't see them in the cinema and only on DVD? Careful Queens, the purist, true film fans will be after you.:)

To keep the French... er... connection going, what about the car chasing the train in the French Connection? That's always up there in movie pursuits.

"What do you think of that then girls?"
    "It were all right, like"
"Alright? I thought it were ****in' great"

I got the Game of Thrones box set for my birthday last week. Only watched the first three episodes. It's very good though mate. Out of Shawsank and Midnight Express, I'd go for Shawshank everytime. I never get bored of it, pure quality.

Snowtown, powerful, disturbing and pretty horrific. Being a true story makes it very compelling although not for viewing with the kids about!

How about 'La Haine' Dave, always in my top five of all time?

I was just gonna mention 'La Haine' 'cos I just got it in the HMV sell off. Brilliant film.
Also I've mentioned them before are 'City of Life and Death' (Chinese) and 'Come and See' (Russian). Two VERY powerful war movies you would be very hard to forget once you have watched them.

All great films. The two war films are pretty horrific though. Di Canio's appointment made me think of "The Fascist/Il Federale", "Tutti a Casa", "Le quattro giornate di Napoli". The first is set at the time of the liberation of Rome and the second two at the time when the population of Naples rose up and threw out the Nazifascists.
