They may or they not have. In any case, it's gone and we have the 3 points. That's the important bit.
Even better, the Telegraph had Rickie chipping over Terry, running up the middle and then tamely passing to the keeper AND Boruc making a great save when he tipped it over the bar in the second half. Presumably watching on a stream along with another couple of games. Vin
Yeah, I read that, just kept rolling my eyes as I went along. It was very poor from a paper that usually is pretty good.
Chap has just said on Sky that perhaps Chelsea should have done better at St Marys, but added,' I'm not surprised that Saints won though as they are absolutely flying.'
I don't think so. They played that exact side at Stamford Bridge other than Lampard instead of Mikel. Cahill played instead of Ivanovic as well but don't think it would have made much difference
Read an amusing snippet from one wag this morning: I think Saints should be punished for fielding a weakened team against Chelsea. No skipper Lallana, no marquee signing Ramirez, taking off the first choice keeper at half time...it's this kind of thing that brings the game into disrepute...
Sorry to bump this old thread but...both our full backs got into the sky sports team of the week. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/8613202/PL-Team-of-the-Week
Understandable. Jay Rodriguez got into Garth Crooks Team of the Week. He shows a 3-4-3 formation, so the FBs were not going to feature: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21988338
It really is exciting how well our young players are performing in their first season in the saints team and in the PL.
With all the press concentrating on how poor Chelsea starting 11 were, I asked myself who of those 11 would I swap in our starting 11 on Saturday. I would have only 3 of those players, I would swap Moses for Punch, Cech for Boruc (was difficult but Cech is still world class) and either Yoshi or Jos for Ivanovic. Begs the questions, is the squad of the current Euro champs that poor ? or is our squad that good? , Oscar and Marin are too lightweight for our style of play so however talented I would not have them, obviously they had quality on the bench
Talking of young players, Matthew Targett has apparently been selected for the Scotland Under 19 Squad.
My first home game to attend this season, was well worth the flight over!Watching Dad's face (Chelsea supporter in the Saint's end!) was worth it alone!Re-watching the highlights here, could watch the free-kick all day long!
Was telling a ManU fan about our JPT chant to Chelsea, expecting him to smile. All he did was moan about Chelsea singing they were Champions of Europe. He said they had no right to say that as they lost the Super Cup. I had to look to make sure he wasn't joking. He wasn't. I pointed out that did that mean ManU wouldn't be Premier League Champions if they lost the Charity Shield. Not a smile...just went off grumbling. Wierd folk, ManU fans.
