The young bit? Yeah, that didn't apply to you. As it goes none of it did, it's all the new mods pissing about banning everyone. This is not what not606 was set up to achieve. In fact, **** it I'm leaving.
I agree to a point. I think a ban should only be used if someone is really out of order and has been warned a few times to back off, it does seem that banning is being used too often but that's just my opinion I suppose. I didn't read all the NOF stuff but from what I've seen banning him is what escalated the situation, his comment could have been deleted and NOF warned not to go there. (that may have happened though I don't know)
I doubt it Luv. Too sensible. It seems drama is the 'in' thing at the moment so having a word behind the scene just wouldn't have cutt it
On top of that though both me and Sweats are banned from the Liverpool board. I'm genuinely not arsed this time, I've got nowt to say on there, but both were for nothing. Seriously, **** all. This may as well be the old 606 the way it is over there, bit sad really. I also happened to agree that NOF was making a (valid) point and no one even bothered to think about that before just pressing ban. Or are incapable of thinking about that. Probably the latter.
With the NOF thing I commented but it was deleted as I quoted him. Whatever his point, it is a bit of a no go area. I could put forward my feelings on the subject but it will get out of hand so I don't. I just feel that the balance has been lost at the moment and bans are to easily used.
Maybe his point was used clumsily, I wasn't 'there' so only saw his explanation under his new guise which was quickly banned, but I do get some of the point he was trying to achive for definite. Anyway, enough of that, more to the point is I get this genuine feeling that the whole web site is dying on its arse myself. I know some of the forums are still really popular but most are dead. I was going to post a new thread on how United's season is now effectively over and will no doubt fizzle out and the glory of the 20th title (if we get it) will be tainted but I think I'd have got about four replies!!! No ****er is interested.
It does seem like the site is dying on it's arse at the minute. Any sort of controversy is stiffled out straight away regardless of the fact that it's often those sort of debates that make people want to get involved. Bans are being dished out far too easily at the minute as has been proved with yourself and Sweats. I can't recall what you got banned for but Sweats banning was an absolute joke. I'd be a **** mod. If I got complaints about other users I'd just tell the guy complaining to man the **** up and stop being a cock
Is Sweats allowed back on our board yet? TV thread isn't the same without him. Eric hasn't been on there for a while but that's no real loss, all he talks about is Fringe. <gaysmiley>
Bans have been issued for people basically winning the argument, which if left unchecked will destroy a forum in double quick time.
Thats exactly what is going on. . Zingy no i'm not allowed back on.. Which is annoying as I started watching revolution..
I agree bans are being dished out too quickly but not the winning the argument part. Who's to say if one persons opinion is right or wrong? It's not about winning or losing an argument but actually considering an alternative opinion, everyone can be wrong and opinions should always be open to change.
What happens is that a discussion starts, an alternative view is put forward, which is greeting with a disdain to start with & then when it's developed, the insults start flying, the 'home' side are seemingly immune from an censure in this regard, whilst the 'away' side gets labelled a 'wum' or banned for having the temerity to have a different opinion, the intelligence to back it up & the bollocks to stand their ground & give back any stick in spades. I said a while back that your forum is over moderated, as there's too many mods & this encourages others to moan at them for 'action' to be taken.
As long as the alternative view is put forward in the right way without tones of sarcasm or derision then it should be allowed to stand. All to often though that is not the case and this is what initiates the harsh response. I have seen it working both ways lately. I'm a little unsure as to where I stand on this banning stuff at the moment and feel that it may take both parties to step back a little.
