Henderson was looking well out of his depth last season, scared to have the ball. If he did get it he would pass it straight to Gerrard. This year he has seemed a little more composed but, in all honesty, nothing to write home about. Let's face it, he is a bit of a work horse at the moment. Yes he scored at the weekend but other than that he was pretty anonymous. At the minute he is a player of a midtable standard. I really hope he improves but if we can, god please, get Alonso back in the summer he'll have to move to get game time.

Did you watch the game yesterday?

People always right him off cause he doesn't do the Gerrard type of thing and play the long range killer balls. Instead they should be looking at what he does do, like Kuyt he offers work rate, effort and physicality (strong in a tackle), this allows players like Gerrard and the ones in front to go and do what they should be doing and at the same time means Lucas can hang back and help out the defence. Essentially what he's doing is the midfield donkey work, all the running about without any of the credit.
The only thing that lets him down is his range of passing, not really on the Stevie level. But as partner for Stevie he fits the bill perfectly, means Gerrard doesn't have to spend the whole game doing everything (like he used to). He would also be great along side Xabi, who lets be honest wont and can't do a lot of running. Gerrard and Xabi wouldn't be the same as past years, neither of them has the legs for the same type of partnership of 2005, they need someone to do all the running.

Not saying he's a worldclass player, but in every team you need a player, especially in midfield, to do the hard work and graft while the others are being creative. Allen is the one that should be worried for his place (if there were any justice). In a couple of years he could be a very good player if we're willing to be patient with him

Absolutely. Not rocket science, but no-one is claiming he's Iniesta or platini, but we need someone of his type in his midfield.

He did play better yesterday... even without the goal he was one of the better players... although Jake the peg would probably have been amongst our better players yesterday.

He is better than last year... a bit inconsistent and sometimes anonymous but overall not bad. I think Rodgers makes better use of him.

    This <ok>
Always liked Hendo, always thought he'd come good, I hope he gets to play all the games from now until the end of the year.
Also, I like Allen, he's a bit lightweight right now but so was Lucas and look at him now, give the lad a chance, a summer in the gym, a bit more direction from Rodgers on where he see's him playing and I think he'll be a hell of a player too!

first line is an insult on many levels... for one he's a poster boy and second he's got far mroe talent and touch than kuytinho.... second line is absolutely correct. Lampard is a coached hard worker... he worked hard to improve and was never a latent natural.... I think another name could be david platt...

henderson is going to be vital for us, more so than allen anyway... it was obscene to drop henderson for that guy when injured and then come onto sky tv before the game and tell us all what we already knew... we needed 3 in the middle <doh> well done rodgers....

I'm sure fans will be as keen to give Allen a season to settle, just as they did with Lucas, Downing and Henderson.

Sorry, I had a lost weekend so it's still April 1st to me.

  9. You forgot Kuyt from your list <doh>

That comment seems quite ironic coming from you, tarring all Liverpool posters with the same brush. Not everyone criticised them and wrote them off after a handful of games.

Met him in the services near bristol after the game. ( No idea why he was there) seemed like a top guy, polite and stopped for a chat. Big things to come from him I think!
