Could Taarabt be a viable option for the summer?

I have a feeling this lad could be high maintenence though...

Tonight QPR face a huge match against west London rivals Fulham, which will help shape the remainder of their survival fight.

Seven points off safety the job at hand is huge, and with the real possibility of relegation on the horizon there is a chance the Premier League sharks are already looking at which players they can swoop for if the inevitable happens.

One of the most sought after players will be Adel Taarabt, the Moroccan playmaker who on his day is a matchwinner for the club, but has not been able to be consistent enough to drag them out of the mire they are in.

Nevertheless the chances of him remaining at Loftus Road are slim to none if they are relegated, he has attempted to move on a couple of times and was even linked with Manchester United back in December.

Perhaps a more logical destination for him if he were to stay in England could be Newcastle United.

In the North-East, French speaking Taarabt would find a place he could instantly settle, alongside the number of Ligue One additions Newcastle have brought in not just in January, but over the past 18 months.

While rumours persist over the future of Hatem Ben Arfa, who Newcastle want to keep, unless a huge £20 million plus bid changes their mind, signing Taarabt could offer an insurance policy in terms of a creative fulcrum if either he leaves or Yohan Cabaye gets injured.

With Cabaye recently speaking about the mental pressures of the game, combined with Newcastle's struggles when he was out injured, it is not a bad idea for them to bring in another playmaker with Premier League experience and a point to prove to give the team strength in depth.

Aged 23, Taarabt is approaching the age where he needs to step up and play consistently, and surrounded by players who could help him feel at home he could play the best football of his career.

QPR would love to hang onto him, and Newcastle are not entirely clear of relegation themselves yet, but this could be a sensible possibility for all parties of the circumstances dictate so in the summer.

ignore London's Only EC Winners, he hates QPR
Taarabt is a huge talent but can also go missing from games or lose the ball when a simple pass is available

Would not want Taarabt. His attitude is terrible and we have had our fair share of twats over the years.

He's a mercenary and will want big money. That was the only reason he stayed at rangers

I'd rather have Hatem Sicknote Ben Arfa! When he plays, he is a different level to Taarabt. Incidentally, why do you have a massive hate for QPR? It is like us hating on Middlesbrough. Pointless lol!

I personally think he is average - has a few bright sparks here and there but then Shola has the odd good game. Yes he would improve the squad strength but at a huge cost both financially and within the current squad we have

Flatters to deceive. Has a blinder one week then goes missing for the next few games. Far too greedy for me.

A poor mans HBA in my view, but still a decent player.

There is an argument that Arfa became a better player with the support at Newcastle where a combination of feeling wanted, good players and plenty of campatriots helped him play his best. Plus we often give him a role he wants (though not always).

Taraabt could be a better player and step up to taking on HBA's role for us (not that i want Arfa to go but just if he does) but he's not as good a player and - more importantly - we'd only take him if he was relatively cheap, which he wont be.

A bit of a risk though considering he wouldn't be cheap - if we could get him on a loan with a view to buy similar to how we got Benni then fair enough. As I've said, I personally think he is a load of crock and not worth it. Not a team player from what I have seen of him

I think he has loads of talent. He just seems to go missing at times though and I doubt he'd be happy as some kind of back up to Benni. You couldn't carry both in the same team and I prefer Benni. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him but not one I'd go breaking the bank for.
