1. Couldn't agree more. I have made it clear that I don't want AW! I just meant Id be happy ovetall. I much rather us sign the next quality CB than buy an already established one. Dede seems to fit the bill.

I agree with Bluff too <yikes>

Wouldn't mind signing Cissokho and pushing Enrique further up the field. Felt we missed a trick in January b not tying to Bastos ( even though he went to a current Schalke CL club). But he went for some 4 million??? STEAL.

Im telling you, thats what he will cost, buying players off English clubs generally you get ripped off big time, if we got him for £6m Id want him, but Swansea will value at £12-15m like I say

Hence why Richards and Lescott could be gambles but if City want to get rid.... maybe play some hardball. Rodriguez from Monchengladbach is another good CB I think.

EDIT: Agree about the cost and the high price for English/BRitish players.

Williams is a very good defender and I'd be very happy if we signed him, good on the ball, good pace, good in the air, has a good range of takling, he's vocal and currently a captain.. Ticks all the boxes for me

Being vocal and captain at a small club like Swansea is a different kettle of fish to being at Liverpool.

Even the most experienced and vocal leaders would find it hard to come into a new side and stamp their mark. You need to know and trust your teammates before leading the back line.

When Carra leaves, Agger must step up and be the voice of the back 4. It has to be someone we already have. Who partners him is another question. Someone who can header would be a good start.

Based on this evening's performance from Samba I'd like to retract my earlier statement that he'd be a good signing <whistle>

Unless there's someone spectacular available, or someone unwanted that is quite cheap (but talented), I don't want us to buy premier league players anyway. Too expensive and you hardly get any value for money. There's someone probably 3 times as good in the French/Spanish/Italian/German leagues for a third of the price someone from the same position in the PL would cost.

To be fair, that should be the criteria for any signing. I don't want someone from the Spanish league that isn't spectacular, or cheap but talented...

But I understand what you're saying, value for money from other league's is far greater. Just imagine how much Neymar would cost if he were English <whistle>

I think we should just go American..... we have had years of owners, might as well go for it! Get Dempsey, Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, Demarcus Beasley, Freddy Adu ( the next, new, possible, maybe, could be, Pele). Sorted. <ok>

French league to enhance straight through the spine of the team-
Def- Zuma, Sakho
MID- Matuidi, Capoune, Gonalons
For- Pierre Aubemeyang, Gameiro, Gomis, Menez, Valbuena

All of them no more than 15 mil I would think.

Guillem Balague says LFC want Xabi Alonso and are willing to pay up to €10m.

Of course mate, but what we really need is experience with Carragher retiring. Look how highly rated Coates was when he came in, and for just 6m. Now it looks like he won't be succeeding here (still time).

RE Zingy because he plays for Swansea does not make him a bad player, perhaps playing alongside Agger, Johnson and Enrique will push him on even further?

Of course buying players with "Prem experience" isn't fool proof, but for me this one makes sense. 10-12m to potentially sure up our defence could be great business in hindsight. If's and but's though we'll just have to see how it pans out. I get the feeling this is a fabricated story anyhow.

My concern is that we have signed a lot of players from smaller clubs recently (from the days of Kenny) incl. Adam, Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Allen etc.

As you say, this doesn't mean that they're poor players. But they haven't made the desired impact (bar Henderson). I rather we now buy players from bigger clubs because it means that the player himself has the experience of playing for a big club and won't be weighed down by the expectation that comes with LFC.

I don't think it's a coincidence that both Sturridge and Coutinho have both come in and made an instant impact - Coutinho played for Inter Milan, Sturridge played for Chelsea and Man City, and both have featured in the Champions League.

Big club experience > Prem experience

re williams.... I am completely of the opposite view. I want someone to help johnson agger and enrique as i feel none are doing well enough defensively. I want hyppia! if you saw williams going will improve him by playing with our lot then who would we improve?

re balague, he's not got a contact left in LFC! he's just finally cottoned onto what we all konw and made a story from it.

I'd pay 20mil meself...

We would never get that €10 mill back in xfer fees for Xabi... but it doesn't matter. Xabi, Gerrard and Coutinho all on the field together would be an amazing combined creative force for whoever is up front for us.

Xabi would move us up a spot in the table by himself...

...imagine what he would do with 10 other people on the field to support him.

Saw on twitter where some of the EOTK and those type of accounts were saying, "Where would he play or fit in?"................. Anywhere he wants is the answer!!! <laugh>

20. I never go along with this approach because I personally think it is a bullshit attitude (no offence Zingy), same with peoples views on signing players from relegated teams. There are many that get relegated that are very good players. We often hear that individuals don't make a team, surely if thats is the case then you can't blame one individual for relegation either? When Leeds Utd got relegated they had some exceptional players that moved to win allsorts of medals! Fair enough, that was a bit of a one off but that doesn't mean there aren't some gems in these sides!

Not sure of any players I'd want to see us sign from the current bottom three, maybe Benteke...
