Of those 72 clubs, that includes the likes of York, Plymouth, Morecambe, etc who if the list was done fairly wouldn't get a look in. Let's be honest, if it was a true reflection of players abilities how many league 2 players would get in? Maybe 3/4 with a further 7/8 maybe from league 1, leaving almost 40 from the Championship, of which we are second. I'd agree that Aluko was our stand-out performer and is certainly in the top 50 players in the football league, but I think Chester should be in there too and probably Quinn.
I'd disagree that he hasn't been our best CB but we all know you are on some great mission to get everyone to love McShane as much as you, he really isn't that good though. Faye, yet again highlighted, that he too is a better defender than Macca. Chester has been great this season, he made a couple of mistakes at the beginning of the season but it was his first time playing in a back 3, so took a little time to adjust. People don't notice how well he covers for Elmo, letting him fly up the pitch. If you look this season we've conceded far more goals down the left than the right, which is no co-incidence. Chester should be in there, he is easily in the top 50 footballers in the football league.
Very hard to say how good a player is if they have never played in the Championship , one good season in league 1 doesn't put you in the top players in the football league
See the ones I mentioned above: they'd get in most teams. I admit that hardly any others would from our squad. The 6 I mentioned should be in the top 50 though.
How many have we got? I'd guess at Wood, Morgan, Schmeichel, Knockaert and perhaps Nugent? The magazines and newspapers always seem to include King because he used to score a fairly good amount of goals from midfield.
I haven't read it yet. Wood and Knockaert are top 10 according to this thread though. Thing is they always force lower-league players as high as possible to make it seem fair but it just makes it plain wrong. I'd have the four you mentioned in my 50.

Go for it. Make it so people have to submit their opinions and the next poster has to agree to include them or not before posting his/her suggestion. Eventually we'll have 50 and we can look and ordering them. EDIT; hopefully it'll work, but then again it could still get silly.
