Has anyone on here suffered from it ?? I've felt like s*** last few days and seem to have all the symptoms . Got swollen neck glands, sore throat, ache and very lethargic. If anyone has, is it worth seeing the Doctor or just a case of 'manning up' and get on with it for a few weeks. Thanks for any advice gents.
Had it years ago. Until I did I assumed it was a pathetic lazy student illness but it was truly awful. Throat was virtually closed over, felt awful and almost bedridden for about 2 months. Full recovery took much longer with constant tiredness. You'll need a blood test to confirm. I was initially misdiagnosed with tonscilitis twice and had to push. Good luck mate
Staines, an ex of mine had it and was out of the game for weeks. However, my wife has spent most of this 4 day break on the sofa with pretty much what you described. I think rest is important when you're devoid of energy, but getting up and out for a bit of air sorts you out. I generally ignore coughs and colds and I think it works. Self fulfilling prophecy to a degree.
I think if you had it you'd know it can be crippling, probably just a virus thing. My missus has it as well.
Had glandular fever when I was 15. I was on a school trip and was put in quarantine for a couple of days. As others have said Staines.....could be what you have or could be one of the many viruses that are about at the moment. Get well soon mate.
A lot of what mate ? Glandular fever ? To be honest I've felt really run down for a couple of weeks but last few days got a headache that I cannot shift, I can hardly eat 'cos of my throat is so sore and all I want to do is sleep. Considering a month or so ago I was running 30 miles a week, and fitter than I've been in years. More worrying than me is that the twins seem to be getting the same, so thinkers is gonna take them to docs tmrw to get them checked out (I'm seeing my lovely oncologist tmrw so will talk to her about it) Thanks for the replies lads, most appreciated, off to bed mow for a few hours 'cos I'm feeling properly f*****.
I hope you dont have a misses, you get this through snogging. Dont do sports for a month after youve recovered.
Probably a virus but go to a doctor and get it diagnosed as soon as mate - glandular fever can be very nasty and long term can lead to chronic/post viral fatigue syndrome. You of all people should know not to be a bloke about these things. Good luck with it mate.
Get well Bruv...but go to doctors and get a blood test....Sore throat/virus thing you will be over it in a week or so....Glandular fever, is much more debilitating. You need a proper diagnosis, as you may well need a sick-note. Get yourself to the doctors tomorrow. And don't go kissing anyone (it is not nicknamed ...kissing disease for no reason)
Yes, I got it at college from kissing. She only told me she'd just recovered from glandular fever at the end of the evening. I went to see the doctor and he said drink lots, and recommended lager. I got home, my mother expecting me to be holding a prescription. I had four cans of Tuborg! Although it was strength sapping for a couple of months, and at times I felt like death warmed up, it disappeared and I never had any more problems. Some get it worse than others.
Yeah, i knew someone who had to take a year off Uni because he got it bad and they average student spends 93% of his time doing nothing but drinking and sleeping!
yeh i had it years ago but didn't realise & had a drink & came in blotches all over face & body so my advice don't drink only water, but get well staines.
