Although I agree, I can't see us splashing out that much on CB's when we clearly need a LB, DM and possibly a winger and keeper (should Reina leave as I suspect) too.

Of course, we will get an income should we manage to sell Coates, Skrtel (?), Reina (?), Spearing, Carroll and Pacheco

And yet all I hear from this board is how we should be signing another defensive midfield to compete/compliment Lucas. Why bother when we have Agger who would be perfect for that position imo and when there are far better defenders out there than him.

I have been sayin Mulumbu for awhile. Why not have horses for courses and all that? Too many times this season our midfield has been overrun ( mainly when Allen was in) but Why not have a few different players? Who was the last one w moved to a DM it was Aurelio wasn't it? Did a decent job there I think.

My biggest concern with Agger at DM is the running around and injuries. Different type of running and movement to what he is used to and we know he can be a bit brittle.

  7. Unfotunately, it is a squad game and not everyone can play every game. Sometimes, a favourite amongst the fans will be dropped.

I too think Agger could be a very good DM but we look like losing Carra, Coates and Skrtel this summer. Thats three of our four recognised CBs, add in the chance of losing Pepe too and I don't think it makes for good reading. We don't want to then be moving Agger forward leaving us with a trio in the heart of defence that have not only never played together before, but all debutants for the club too. Chances of three players hitting the ground running AND instantly clicking? <laugh>

About as good a chance of changing one CB and a goalkeeper and hoping Agger starts playing well, being a vocal leader to guide the other two through, cutting out all the mistakes in his aerial game and clicking with the others...

    Slim!

We're relying on luck regardless for next season.

  10. Leaving Agger in there means that only two of the back five has changed. Move Agger to make that three and it may as well be all five since the two remaining are on oppoisite flanks!

Unfortunately, I think we will get Williams. Someone that BR trusts and a player that understands the system. AW is big, strong, quick, vocal and good in the air. Just hope he works out better than the others players we signed that BR had worked with before. I'm starting to hope Dede comes who is very similar to Williams. Maybe both? (getting both would £20m+ in total though)

Id be happy with those two plus a DM. If Pepe go we will obviously have to replace him too.

Thats why Id bring in the guys I mentioned,if you bring in Sahko you dont need to bring in a LB, if you bring in Wanyama you dont need to bring in a DM

Sahko would compete with Enrique at LB, but can play CB also
Wanyama would compete with Lucas at DM , but can also play CB also

I don't think Pepe will leave anyway. Only top club who will need a goalkeeper is Barca (well, and Arsenal but doubt he'd see them as a move to progress his career) and they're looking at Ter Stegen as their first choice.

  14. Being able to play different positions is obviously a benefit but it would still leave us short of numbers.

If you play with a back for then you ideally want at least eight defenders. Picking two up that can play two positions might help with those areas of the pitch but ultimately you only have six defenders for four spots (plus youngsters)

Agree on Sakho but Wanyama is a tough one. Good if he can do it but would maybe prefer a proper CB and proper CDM if I am honest. Should be intersting this summer and wonder if we will have any pre-arrangements for players at all?

  16. I think Pepe will join Barca in the summer. Obviously hope he stays, there is no better keeper for us IMO

BR gives off this persona that he is really clued up on world football, I remember him talkIng about Lucas in an interview and saying hed heard about him at 18/19, 12 months b4 he signed for LFC( Im not convinced he is),and to be LFC manager he should be clued up.But last summer it wasnt shown in his transfers

If Ashley Williams at £12-15m at nearly 29yo is the best he can come up with for a CB transfer, I think we have DEFINITELY got the wrong man as manager

I think we need a new left back as well as a centre back.

Enrique has a few good moments but too often he makes the wrong decision on the ball and either loses the ball or slows our play down to the point our attack loses momentum. He's basically the left back version of Charlie Adam.

Skrtel, in the right system, is much less of a problem than Enrique is in any system. Its a shame that Rodgers doesn't seem to be able to get the best out of Skrtel. He was brilliant to watch last season as he was confident, aggressive and dominating everyone he was coming up against.

12-15 for Williams? That would be a tough one to take! <yikes>

You could get Sakho for that, Dede, Douglas (dutch league). I wouldn't mind testing the waters to see if we could get Richards and play him there. Subotic from BVB?
