Didn't Downing get relegated with Boro too? Not sure about Enrique at Newcastle too?

Pretty sure Bellamy had been relegated a couple of times too. Crouch with Southampton?

Just thinking of players that have won major honours after experiencing relegation. Owen, Jones and Young at Man Utd and all won a league title medal.

 

I don't think Konchesky's ever been relegated.

Crouch was with Southampton. Bellamy with Coventry. Glen Johnson & Joe Cole probably went down with West Ham. Shelvey with Charlton?

Brad Jones?

 

Another interesting thing to look out for is if Steven Fletcher will be relegated from the premier league for the 3rd time in 3 seasons. Wonder if thats ever happened to a player before? Probably not.

 

I've said a few times, but we shouldn't just be looking for a partner for Agger; we should be looking at someone to challenge him and a partner. He's playing really bad imo and can't defend set pieces for **** - even with Carra in there organising it. Maybe he thinks he's undroppable (which he is right now tbh), but he needs to up his game and serious competition will do that.

I'd love Dede, think he's a monster and would be our first pick CB. The other would be either Agger, Kelly or another CB if Kelly doesn't step up. Lescott's a good defender and would a great pick up if we don't land Dede. More commanding version of Skrtel imo.

De Vrij is a little slow for the league imo, not sure he'll be subject to a bid.

 

Good shout but it would be third time in four seasons. He wasn't relegated in 2010-11, that was his first season at Wolves.

I like Agger but feel like we really need more physically imposing defenders.

He's a tall lad but despite his height and tattoos he seems to get bullied out of position easily with the high balls coming in. He needs a few more tats to make him stronger... maybe going for a Skrtel haircut too...

Agger has a good all round game otherwise... but as long as he has that weakness we will conceed goals.

He needs a brute alongside him... but one with enough pace to help cover the large area between defence and midfield we leave open.

 

Its gotta be Dede for me, hes very good in the air ,and has strength and more importantly PACE

PACE would enable us to play a high line, and compress the pitch and nick the ball off the opposition very high up the pitch, in the opposition half

 

Got to agree on Dede, he looks the perfect partner for Agger or Kelly.

We will still need another when we lose Carra, Coates and Skrtel in the summer. Can't rely on the inexperience of Kelly, Wisdom and Dede alongside Agger.

Plus one of Kelly or Wisdom will be considered as RB cover.

 

Actually, just remembered something I thought about a long time ago; playing Agger in the centre next to Lucas. He'd be perfectly suited there imo. Great on the ball and physical enough to really give our midfield that bite. Two new CBs in behind him and job done!

Personally I don't think there's too much wrong with Agger's game. More to do with our management and defensive coaching (or lack of).

 

And drop who? Gerrard or Henderson/Allen? Too defensive.

Agger is a CB and will stay a CB,maybe for the odd game he could play DM, but 1st we need to have very 2 VERY GOOD OPTIONS at CB b4 we do that.

In the summer we need to buy 2 top CBs one to replace Carra and the other to compete with Agger

As I have said b4 , Id bring 3 who can play there,Dede,Wanyama(also can play DM),and Sahko ( also can play LB), the 3 together would cost about £25m, but selling Coates and Skrtel will get us close to £15m IMO
