As expected the Chelsea game has been postponed

"Fulham’s Barclays Premier League match with Chelsea at Craven Cottage will now be played at a later date, after the Blues progressed to the Sixth Round of the FA Cup with Budweiser following victory over Middlesbrough on Wednesday evening.

The match was scheduled to take place on Sunday 10th March, but Chelsea now face our Cup conquerors Manchester United on that date.

The Club will make fans aware of the new date as soon as possible."

    And the Tottenham game moved

"The Club can confirm that our Barclays Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane will now take place on Sunday 17th March at 3pm.

The match was initially scheduled for Saturday 16th but has been moved as a result of Spurs’ continued participation in the UEFA Europa League."

Does give the Club a little headache though. As Jol said. “We will have to play three games possibly in six or seven days and that is not what you like."

The next available dates are Tuesday 16th or Wednesday 17th April which means squeezing the fixture between the Aston Villa (away) and Arsenal (home) games. However if Chelsea draw with United or progress in the Europa that would be ruled out. Making 8th May the next most likely and squeezed between Reading (home) and Liverpool (home).

Three home games on the trot, including Chelsea under floodlights would be quite nice.

The Chelsea v ManU cup replay has been scheduled for Monday 1st April. Surprisingly the FA haven't waited to see how Chelsea get on in Europe on Thursday and that potentially opens up a window for our re-scheduled game with them.

The Chelsea fixture list now looks like this -

Their FA Cup result doesn't matter either way, since we play Aston Villa on April 13th. However if Chelsea lose on Thursday, our game could now be on the 10th of April. Can't imagine that would go down well since the Club have scheduled an 'OpenTraining Day' at the Cottage on Tuesday 9th April !

All conjecture of course if Chelsea win on Thursday, in which case 8th May is still looking like the most probable date.

PS Fulham is going to be a busy place on April 1st (a wee bit surprised that the police have given the okay).

Well that's the Chelsea game date still uncertain. And the Newcastle one will now be moved from the Saturday to Sunday 7th April.

What a mess for travelling fans.

Will be interesting to see who Newcastle get in the Europa, hope it's the away leg they play before us.

For the Chelsea game I'd take a guess that it might be played on 8th May between the Reading and Liverpool home games or during the week before the Reading game.
So that would make 3 home games in a row.

You've got it SuperBri, they're away to Benfica.

Here is a link to the full draw -

PS Just on Newcastle, Ben Arfa is reported as having an op and will be out for the rest of the season.

PPS Isn't it annoying that the Europa has become the greatest thing sinced sliced bread all of a sudden and yet pretty much an also ran when we got to the final !!!

It is annoying but the brilliance of Bale and the fact that there are 3 English teams in the last 8 (and none in the CL) are the reasons. Our Europa run did win us a lot of neutral fans, which is nice.

I'm curious, why is everyone saying the Chelsea game cant be played on the 16/17th of April because of the Europa league.

The second leg of the Europa QF's are on 11th April
The second leg of the Europa SF's are on 25th April

So there are no Europa games that week and the FA cup won't matter as the SF's dont have replays.

I'd expect the game to be played on the 16/17th.

I suspect Chelsea are not keen on that date(s). Fulham FC have pencilled it in (ie shown it as "tba") in the May Fixtures on their website.

That's my birthday. Now I know what I want this year - three points. It's also the Football League's birthday as well as Nick Hornby's. And - I've only discovered this one recently - Barry Hayles'. Just saying.

Chelsea will now play their FA Cup semi-final match the weekend before our mid-week game at the Cottage.

Quite glad they got through !!
