That's probably because Cubans aren't allowed to travel.

Reid would be better Fighting the Flab than Fighting the Power.

As per my edit, you're confusing threads. As his dispute with Swindon was ongoing there was a fawning interview with him on the Beeb website and I said something along the lines of 'instead of making him a media darling why are no journos questioning him about his Il Duce tattoo and his former dealings with the notoriously right wing Irreducible?'

If one good thing has come out of this circus is that they are indeed now questioning him.

I don't what type of answers they realistically expect.

His English is poor, his italian is not great, he is not a rational thinker. If they expect either some sort of eulogy to the domestic policies of Benito Mussolini in the 1920s and 30s, or some sort of repudiation of the ill-advised alliance with the German Nazi party in the 1930s, then I think the wait will be a long and disappointing one.

I think a sort of working class Roman equivalent of "All my mates were getting them done, it looks dead good plus I hate Roma and their Commie supporters" may well be about the most you can expect on this one.

In answer to the question on modding, I didn't close the other thread and as it's closed I haven't even read it so I can only comment in general terms, but there's always going to be inconsistencies in moderating. There'll be times I'll close a thread that on another day I may let run. We're human, we won't get it right all the time and there'll be few occasions when everyone agrees anyway.

We're not in charge, it's not our board, all we try to do is tidy up quietly in the background so as many types of people as possible feel able to pass comment.

I guess my real question on this topic would be, as long as his political leanings are legal, should it matter what they are? Could they affect his function as manager?

Just to be clear I wasn't criticising or spitting my dummy out, I was raising a debate in whether a debate was legitimate for this board.

I'd never mod in a million ****ing years so I wouldn't suppose to 'have a go' at someone who does.

If he was a true Italian Fascist who practised what he preached he would only sign and select Italian players surely?

The fact that he doesn't tends to suggest either he's not a true Fascist.....or that his 'political views' are largely irrelevant.

Mind you, look what happened with Glenn Hoddle and his reincarnation comment ! <laugh>

Sorry if it came over as if I was accusing you of that. I've no problem with people questioning moderation on here. I'd rather people raised the issue so we can adjust if needed than if they didn't feel able to and just left.

But if he only selected Italian players, would it be legal?

I've held off because I usually hate these threads - and this one in particular for personal reasons, however...

Are you just wumming, thick as a whale sandwich, anti-semitic or a mix of all three? You simply haven't got this have you? Miliband's position at Sunderland has NOTHING to do with Marxism or his new job in New York. His parents were Jews. Their parents would have found themselves in a concentration camp and worse in a gas chamber had they not escaped. Both Miliband brothers are non-observant Jews, but nonetheless have Jewish ancestry. For that reason, his position is untenable at Sunderland. What do you not understand about that? If someone, supports the views that Di Canio holds or associates with, and within living memory that includes wanting to destroy your parents because of their race, if given the chance, would you be happy to work alongside them? If you want to be a cynic, try this as an alternative: perhaps you might consider Sunderland's position of trying to stay in the premiership and the money it brings at any cost and feck the principle? It is the club's choice, fair enough to them if it works, and they are happy with it. I have no wish to see Sunderland relegated particularly. However, they would have known full well what Miliband's position would be as a result of this move. I've spent some time in Italy, and many of the fascists there believe that Hitler and Mussolini didn't go far enough. Di Canio is allowed to hold any views he wants, and so is David Miliband. Stop personalising it like some sloppy teenager and try some balanced and intelligent thought.

I am sorry, but I think it matters a great deal to know what his views are, when he should be a role model for his team members. There are enough fascists around the world without Sunderland employing one!!!

But, you see to be implying his ability to work should be limited because of what appear to be legal political opinions? Is that acceptable in a democracy?

Imagine how any Palestinians in Sunderland must have felt when Miliband took the (well paid) job up there, or indeed any Iraqis, specially the ones who had fled their homeland as a result of the Blair government's policies?

Feel free to send me any personal messages on this subject rather than bore the forum with your laughably condescending political views. I'll be happy to educate you. If not, I'll consider the matter closed.

SAFC are well rid of Miliband who has shown his true colours once again.

(Perhaps I should have started a 'Miliband's done one' thread?)
