Lifted from Wikipedia......... "In January 2013, with Swindon under a transfer embargo and in financial difficulty, Di Canio offered to pay £30,000 of his own money to keep loan players, John Bostock, Chris Martin and Danny Hollands at the club.[23] On 18 January 2013, ahead of Swindon's Saturday clash with Shrewsbury Town, Di Canio worked into the night alongside approximately 200 volunteers to clear a snow-covered pitch at the County Ground, thus allowing the game to go ahead. He showed his appreciation by ordering everyone pizza. Swindon won the match 2-0, which Di Canio publicly deemed a present to the volunteers.[24][25][26]"
The thing with the prem and more importantly prem players is it's a damn site different than that of the lower leagues. Most of these overpaid numpties would have just as big an ego/opinion of their ability as Di Canio. A prem manager has to have many feathers in his cap. He has to be an authoritarian, psychologist and father figure all rolled into one. Di Canio benching or ripping into them won't decrease their pay or improve their loyalty or willingness to battle for the shirt/club. It will be a massive gamble and I hope it works.
Ink already dry on a two year contract mate. Can't see Di Canio driving all the way up here with his assistant for a day out.
Have done. That article makes him much more likeable. And its not like the independent are a right wing rag who love fascists.
Getting stuck into the players works for Fergie! We'll see from their reactions who is ready for the last few games and who isn't
Fair one mate, not sure he drove all the way mind Suppose we've tried the proven managers and ****ed them up big style so maybe the totally unproven one will be a legend for us, at least we might get a pizza out of it mate.
Maybe so but not in public, Di Canio is known for being a lose cannon and some players need that whilst others don't. I honestly think Johnson should be dropped as we can't afford any passengers in this run in. I was a MON fan and feel the sacking is a mistake but will always back whoever is appointed and if it's Di Canio so be it at least it will be interesting.
I heard that MoN has this season fined more players for stepping out of line than in his previous managerial career. Maybe the players were ruling the roost. If that is the case there may be some shocks in store for some.
He'll bring passion... He'll bring style... He'll bring more muscles than Rocky... He'll bring controversy... (I'm not posting that picture) And he'll bring something for the ladies, NMG and Albert...
