Harry Redknapp would like to remain in charge at Queens Park Rangers next season, but appreciates that relegation may cost him his job.

The vastly-experienced coach was drafted in to the Loftus Road hot-seat in November and charged with the task of preserving QPR's Premier League status.

He has overseen an upturn in fortunes, but the club remain inside the drop zone - seven points from safety with just eight games remaining.

Redknapp remains confident that he can steer a course to safety, but has made it clear that he would like to remain at the helm for 2013/14 regardless of the division QPR find themselves in.

He said: "It is up to the chairman and board what they want to do if we go down.

"And whatever they want to do is fine with me.

"If they say they are looking to go another way, then it would not be a problem.

"But I like it here and am happy. I don't even think about going down. It doesn't enter my mind."

"If they say they are looking to go another way, then it would not be a problem. But I like it here and am happy."
    Harry Redknapp
Redknapp claims to be enjoying life back in club management, but concedes that he could have walked away from the game had QPR not come calling - with the former Tottenham Hotspur boss having spent five months out of work after leaving White Hart Lane.

He added: "If I had stayed out longer, I might not have come back. The longer I went, it wasn't like I was thinking 'Oh I have got to get back in'.

"I was quite enjoying my life - it wasn't a problem. I have plenty of things I would do away from football.

"If I had been out longer, who knows? But then I nearly took the Ukraine job. The longer you are out of it, you think life is okay. But I'm back now and full on."

Clearly I'm a bit thick, but nowhere in that article does Harold say he wants to stay even if we are relegated. Only that he likes it at QPR, doesn't think about going down, beyond that its up to the owners, and he wouldn't worry about retiring.

For what its worth I reckon he will stay, unless a prem club comes calling.

I can't see a scenario where a Premier League club would come in for him that would be a realistic option. He wants somewhere close enough to commute from Sandbanks so the London clubs are the only real option as far as I can see and if the Hammers are giving Big Sam a new deal that's the only real option out the window. I may be wrong but I think he's here for the long haul and we need that stability...

Yep, the only team that I can see Redknapp leaving for is West Ham. I can't see any other teams stealing him away from you, so it's retirement or QPR for Redknapp.

Yep - Sam is being offered a new deal and will sign it once they are safe, he has insisted on that proviso and after yesterday they should be ok...

    From The sport Review
""Harry Redknapp has hinted Queens Park Rangers could be his last managerial post ahead of Monday’s crunch west London derby at Fulham.
The 66-year-old replaced Mark Hughes at the Hoops in November after spending almost five months unemployed following his Tottenham Hotspur exit in June.

Although he has given little thought about whether he will be a Premier League or Championship coach next season, Redknapp admits he enjoyed his break away from football last summer and could see QPR being his last job.

He said: “You go home to your family and to your dogs. I talk to my dogs, I walk them every night.

“I never really turn off. You think about the team. I think if I stayed out longer this time I might not [have] come back.

“I started to enjoy my life in a way. There were plenty of things I could have done. I have other interests other football.

“But then I nearly took the Ukraine job. The longer you get out of it you start to think that your life is all right. But I am back in football full on.”

QPR have a good record in London derbies under Redknapp’s stewardship, beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before drawing with Tottenham Hotspur this season.

And the Hoops boss hopes the west London side can continue their unbeaten run against their local rivals at Craven Cottage on Monday night.

I think the results have improved sufficiently for Redknapp to have another year regardless of what happens.

Fernandes has always seemed reluctant to change managers and will know, as well as anyone, that stability is the key to all on-field and off-field plans and progress.

Tjaaa, for me he was all too quick to sack Colin, and way too slow to sack Hughes. As for Harry he was a good appointment to try to keep us up, though done too late. Overall Harry's done well though some his team selections recently with a half fit BZ and a poor Park getting so much playing time have been bizare. In the interests of stability and also the players Harry could bring to the Club, I'd be surprised if he's fired at the end of the season even if we go down, but if he quits himself I won't mind too much, particularly if we are still PL, and we bring in a younger more progressive Manager, a Laudrup or Solskjaer type.

You might be right on both counts although I'd say that Warnock wasn't his man and the timing of Hughes' sacking is easy to find fault in retrospectively.

I've just found Tony's tone to be very sombre and sincere in both instances.

I like the idea of a Solskjaer type too.

Theres zero chance he will be sacked, its not his fault if we go down and does anyone seriously think we will get a better manager in the NPC?

If you get relegated why would you want Redknapp to stay? He would have failed miserably with all the monies spent on this "team". Sack Redknapp and get Warnock back, you know it makes sense. <cheers>

No Stan, you've got it right. As with everything, Harold has said nothing at all. He says whatever he thinks people want to hear without ever sounding sincere about it. If someone does come in for him, he will go even if he had said that he loved the club and wanted to see out his career here the week before. It's so easy to evade issues of loyalty or responsibility when your entire career is, according to him, determined by others making decisions for him because he does'nt read, doesn't understand anything and someone, anyone at all, may come to him with a proposition which is too good to refuse for a soul as simple and pure as his.

Harry would not get sacked. He climbed aboard a sinking ship and has definitely steadied it.

The quality of signings (Samba, Jenas and Townsend) have been great as has the quality of the football being played.

Just hope his ego could manage the championship, but somehow doubt it.
