Well, you can truthfully say that some of us were up his arse straight away, because we trusted Nicola Cortese. Hopefully, you'll re-phrase it to something more appropriate though. That's the thing with opposition fans and even pundits. They think we tolerate Cortese and his ambitions. We actually LOVE it..!
I went with: Honoured that you took the time to tweet about us. Nothing wrong with being upset at losing a hero but liking his replacement.
On Sky, chap says strange how Liverpool can play so badly at Southampton and then so well against Villa. Information alert: because we are a better side than Villa.
You should have reminded him who are the next team to visit St Mary's and question whether he is jealous of our free flowing, attacking football.
Ha..! I didn't quite notice it was a WHU fan who tweeted his derision. I've got my West Ham - We're Coming To Get You thread ready and waiting in the wings.
He said "why moan then?" - well maybe, because I didn't possess a crystal ball when Nige was outed...
Why have the West Ham fans got a problem with us? Is this purely a football forums thing? Is it because we beat them to automatic promotion last season? Or is it coz we have a better English striker than them?
Still a genuine 4 points above the relegation zone and it might as well be 5, considering our vastly better goal difference. Saints -9 Villa -26 QPR -22 Reading -25
Excellent. I thought I heard him say that, but I doubted my hearing as his use of the word was completely the opposite of its meaning.
tbf...some on here have a problem with West Ham...probably because they were snapping at our heels last season. There is also the desire to be the top promoted side...still too close to call.
Tbf, I haven't helped matters either. I'm not like it normally, but I have found a distinct pleasure in making Trixter bite [in the nicest possible way, of course]. Probably, because he's found such great pleasure in taunting us every time we've stumbled. West Ham's 2 points and 1 game in hand proximity to Saints is not lost on me for a split-second. I daresay Trixter is well aware of it as well.
Only thing most Saints fans were looking for this season was to stay up, I'm not really bothered about West Ham.
Nothing to do with them snapping at our heels last season. League position wasn't a problem nor proximity. It was their gobshite arrogant fans continually calling Saints a small crap team. From the start of the season to the end of it all the KUMB would say was variations on.... ....if we can't finish/beat a team like Southampton then.......... If they had finished above us wouldnt have been a problem. Was just the way they spoke about us all through the season. Is the game I want us to win more than any other in the run in for this reason.
Well done Liverpool. I believe the Wigan game in hand is against Man City. Two sides which are two results away would be a welcome cushion.
It's funny how these things work. Of course some Saints fans went OTT with the decision, because it was a critical one and Adkins was well-liked. It's maybe a little silly, but at least it's a somewhat understandable. You feel more passionately about your team than others. But as a whole, Saints fans were I think somewhat optimistic, or at least willing to look on the bright side and that's an expected reaction as well. What can you do but hope for the best and NC had certainly earned a little trust. There was less embarrassing OTT reaction from other fans, but also their opinion was more universal in that it was a poor move. And certainly many fans (and I would be this WHU supporter was among them) were happy to write Saints off and say we'll get what we deserve and what a shocking football club we were etc., etc. It's fun to watch or to hope other clubs suffer. And tbf, it was perhaps moral just that we pay a price. The only interest in the Saints situation for them was the entertainment value of watching a club implode, and since that didn't happen they move on and forget all about it. It's only Saints' fan reactions they remember. We could just as easily remind WHU of the state of their forum last year when *everyone* was complaining about the manager and how crap they were and how everything was going to go wrong, etc. That was quite comical and entertaining to us as I'm sure Saintsweb often is to others.
