MON to R's next season when Harry jumps ship, dont be surprised, but i really hope Harry stays with us but just cant see it IF we go down
I hope not, he really looks like the game has passed him by. His teams are dull and boring and wed be about as exciting as we were under Hughes.
Precisely .............. This is the best bad news I've heard in a long time, hopefully Wigan can implode as well.
Yes mate, he cocked up in the January transfer market and has had us slipping down the table since then. Ideally I'd have liked us to keep him until the end of the season but clearly Short has decided he needs to act!
This post pretty much sums the situation up perfectly. Whether we now have a honeymoon period under a new boos or slide down into the championship is all that's left to ponder.
Hughes, McClaren, Coyle, .............. with a choice quality candidates like that, I'd hit the pub sooner rather than later. Di Matteo wouldn't even entertain such a thought.
If Big Sam signs a new deal at West Ham I can't see Harry going anywhere, that was the one realistic option that would have pulled him away at the end of the season. I reckon Harry will stay and at least give us a good run at it if we go down...
Bad decision IMO. They have had terribly bad luck with injuries. He would be able to bring them straight up again. Mark Hughes would not.
The loss of Fletcher and Cattermole was a hammer-blow but their form was very poor ahead of that. Looking at their run-in they really are in a horrible place, I'll be disappointed if we don't finish above them even if we go down. Looking at the likely candidates I reckon Steve McLaren would be the best choice for them...
Problem akin to Wenger's, part of the problem is he "was" a good manager but as the game has moved on, his idea's haven't. 10-15 years ago building a squad of British workhorses would have sufficed, Danny Graham type signings would have worked but these days you can't have a squad with no technical ability as Stoke are finding out. For all the money spent under Bruce and O'Neill it's incredible that Sunderland have - IMO - Only 4 players of genuine (Premier League) quality: Mignolet, Sessegnon, Adam Johnson & Steven Fletcher.
They probably only needed 4 or 5 points to assure their safety IMHO, but now they have the wiff of a club in full free fall about them and I'm not sure that they'll get them. They've lost their captain, their leading goal scorer and their manager in the space of about a week. Club in crisis.
And there lies the problem with sacking your manager, the available selection isn't exactly mouthwatering. TF hand was forced with the scenario of Harry managing Ukraine, just wish it was forced sooner But I'll give you right on your assesment, think the umbrella man could be their best fit.
