Just running through the day with regards WYP and statements I've seen/heard: Protest March Thank you WYP for admitting that there was no trouble what so ever on this, although adding to the end of it "following a successful policing operation" is a bit rich. I'm not sure that having a ridiculous number of officers on duty watching people who have no intention of committing a crime not commit crimes should count as an operation, successful or otherwise. I'll also assume that the ridiculous number on duty was because the "intelligence" told them there'd be more there than there actually was. It's good to know that by forums intentionally overstating expectations our lies can force you to act differently as well, it's nice that it's a two way relationship like that. It would also be nice if you counted the people that were on the march when giving attendance figures, not just those that were in City shirts. The Bradford, Leeds, Stoke, etc and even Polish fans (who live in Huddersfield) are people too you know. Of course I realise that showing that 2/3 of the crowd protesting about your actions weren't even affected by it themselves does highlight just how ridiculously over the top the decision was. Providing a pub for City fans for the day and evening I suspect this is bugger all to do with WYP, but thanks to the Warehouse pub for inviting all the protestors to spend the afternoon in and then watch the game, although I do now owe Bielbs a pint. Not sure how many stayed the whole day as I went to the ground, but maybe WYP would have been better allowing freedom of movement around the country whilst having home and away designated pubs. That way it would focus all the away fans in a specific area and any fans elsewhere could be reasonably asked to join their fellow fans if they were perceived to be creating an issue. Where WYP do need praise on this is regarding Louis Cooper. Some dozy twonk behind the bar in the pub decided to tell him he had to leave at half four because of how busy the pub was despite the fact there were loads of us leaving then anyway to go to the ground or back to Hull. WYP (thanks to one of the ladies involved in organising all this from the Huddersfield fans end of it) got involved and had a word so that he could stay. Bubbling the fans Part of the point of bubbling the fans is to ensure you keep the group separate from the home support. It would be interesting to hear why after leaving the home end of the ground (legitimately purchased) I didn't even get 30 foot away from the exit before I found myself in amongst the rest of the City fans, and why when they all went and got on the coaches I was able to leave the group and carry on up the street without a single question being asked even though I had a City scarf on (ok it was half and half with a Town scarf, but still, not even asking me). Good to know that if our 1% had traveled in the bubble they could have walked out into Huddersfield town centre just as easily if they'd chosen to, makes your policy really effective does that. The other point of bubbling the fans is to reduce the requirement for police to be deployed elsewhere. So why were there 100 or more police officers lining the road from the ground back up to the train station as the home fans made the walk to the town? There's more than one route to the station depending which end of the ground you're in and you can't have only had officers on those routes so you're looking at well over 200 officers on football specific policing at the tax payers' expense. Just who or what were they meant to be policing?
they won't reply but you can be certain they will have an officer , maybe with instructions from quite high up the idiot tree at WYP reading through the forum pre and post match
Do you think I'd think that only WYP would be interested in hearing what actually happened in Huddersfield today with regards the protest, the fans, and the policing? (I may have left a few yous in when I copied it from an email)
Just remembered as well. I was on the train both ways with a Huddersfield fan who I'd not before. On the way there he supported us in protesting about it, but said he could also see the argument that WYP were making. On the way back he said having seen that quoted bit first hand he was now totally against the police over it because with the levels of policing they had around the rest of the town and those tied to the bubble he couldn't see why they would have been unable to police any away following (ie full allocation from a proper rival like Leeds) so nobody gained anything from it.
