Haaf A Sixpence one for the notebook. Last place to third in the 1:55 at Doncaster. Good run, stayed on well. Being by Haafhd, probably needs the cut in the ground he got today.

Oh I love this horse and I can absolutely guarantee he's much, much better than that. I got the distinct impression that he was nowhere near as fit as connections would have liked and its a testament to how talented and well handicapped he was for him to win. I think Educate will be this years Maarek and continue his progression at a rate of knots and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he's competing in Group races at the end of the season.

Spirit Quartz over in Dubai at 12s, small stakes. Form last season was very solid bar the performance on bottomless ground at the Arc meet. Taking a chace that he needed the run LTO and will improve today.

    3.05 Doncaster

    Jacks Revenge 20/1

Another minefield but I really like the chances of George Baker's 5 year old who was very progressive last year and who goes extremely well fresh. Starting off last season off a mark of 70, Jacks Revenge won two and was placed in 5 of his 8 starts last season as he finished the year with an excellent 2nd off a mark of 89. He's been raised 2lb since then and I don't think he's finished improving just yet. An impressive winner on soft, he seems to be drawn on the right side of the track in stall 16 and I think he's been primed to run a huge race.
