I have just seen this thread on the OTIB and thought I would post it up on here to see what answers you lot give. If we do get relegated this will be my first
1959-60 1979-80 1980-81 1981-82 1994-95 1998-99 That is enough for one lifetime but the love of my life are upsetting me again so add 2012-13. I only hope that it does not become EIGHT RELEGATIONS at the end of next season.
I'm the same as wiz & cidered abroad with the exception of 1956-60 as I'm evidently not quite as "mature" as them! For you young uns... take as close look as try to appreciate the pain that we went through.... 3 seasons of successive relegations from the old Division 1 to Division 4 in successive seasons. We were the first club to do it...not one to be proud of. That's why this season, whilst a kick in the balls, simply isn't a bad as many are making it out to be. Ask any Soton or Norwich fan and you may get a different perspective.
I really hope so Tampa, but City are not known for instant returns to higher planes. More likely we suffer for several seasons like the dark days of Danny Wilson and Tinnion before we get back to Championship status. By which time some of us old 'uns might be just a pile of dust buried under the corner flag at the East End!
This will be if it happens my 6th. It don't get easier either you just can see it on the horizon more I could see this coming from the time Millen saved us, as some say we are just a little fish in a big pond in this division. I liked the days of Danny Wilson we played attractive football and used to chant just like watching Brazil, just a shame he had a funny mad time at the Millenium stadium against Brighton.
Same as some others on here, deleted 1959 though The difference in the 80's though was that when we went bust in 1982, it was basically the case that the following Saturday, we were left with a bunch of very young lads suddenly thrust into the limelight against, if I remember right (which is far from sure) Fulham at home. I think we lost that game 1-0 but the lads put up a very creditable and energetic performance and EVERYONE in the ground was there roaring them on and they came off to a fantastic reception. We were left with our accademy and the situation next season will not be massively different although we will have experience in certain positions to be positive about next year...
