This is an interesting article on Connor Wickham and what MON thinks of him.

I'll just pick the good stuff MON says:

O'Neill said: "Connor didn't start the last game for Sheffield Wednesday... (pause) ...who are fighting against relegation... (pause) ...in the Championship.

"I'm not so sure that any player at this club could ever say they have not had a proper chance. What you have to do is produce. Talk to any player in the dressing room, they wouldn't say they have not had a chance. They have to go and do it. It's not true.

"You'll have to check the games he has played. Against Bolton. Middlesbrough... I'm not so sure. I go back to my statement, there's not any player here who can say they have not had a chance. That old cliche about stepping up the plate has never been more relevant.

"I saw him playing for Wednesday twice - he did much better in the second game, at Watford. The games will have helped him out on loan and I hope he is raring to go and he has got a bit of confidence from those."

Basically, IMO this is saying in so many words that Connor Wickham at present isn't even good enough for a team battling relegation in the Championship.
This lads is the reason why he doesn't play. Lets think about it, when he played for Ipswich did he really set the world alight, nope.
He has been playing well for England U21, but that is a completely different league.

From what has stated I wouldn't be suprised if he doesn't play at all, or only gets 10 mins at the end of a match.

Do you guys rate the lad?

I went to the Bolton game in the cup looking for Wickham to say to the manager "look at me and what I can do boss. I want to play".

Now, whilst the whole team were admittedly very poor, I was more disappointed with Wickham and his couldn't be arsed attitude. He should have said **** the rest of you, I'm working my bollocks off and busting a gut to play in this team.

He didnt and that's why he isn't playing.

I think he's going to be a top-class player, and if we sell him at the end of the season on the cheap I'll be very pissed off

Agreed. DG has had 5-6 straight games now and done sweet FA. When as Connor had a run like that in the team? Not saying he is the finished article, he is far from it, but he needs games to develop an understanding with his team mates.
DG might come good today as imo, he is too similar to Fletch for them to form a partnership. A replacement possibly (hope not) but not in the same team.

If MON insists Wickham has had his chance how long do us fans give MON. Cos basically he's done f*ck all this season.

No way has Wickham had a fair crack imo. Marty One'Nill has completely lost all rationale.

are there no reserves that can have a bash leave out johnson, graham stick in wickham and one of those other blokes who sits on the bench and never plays. anyway i have written to o'neill gave him my phone number told him i am a **** player but i am willing to sit on the bench for 40,000 a week so expect shock signing of no more geordies next week, although i can get the ball over 2 foot high from free kicks unlike tragic
