If you were to pick the all time best starting eleven you have ever seen play for the Toon who would they be?

Mine would look something like this in a 3-4-3....

    GIVEN

    Albert (of course)
    Woodgate
    S. Taylor

    Ginola
    Lee
    Cabaye
    Ben Arfa

    Beardsley
    Shearer
    Cole

So much choice but with Pedro playing behind that front two we would be unstoppable.

Krul(in a few years time, this would look a totally legit choice)

    Beresford
    Coloccini
    Albert
    W.Barton

    Robert
    Lee
    Cabaye
    Ginola

    Shearer
    Ferdinand

    Subs:
    Given
    Saylor
    Dyer
    Solano
    Bellamy
    Ben Arfa

Pretty unfortunate in recent years we haven't had many surefire players who strike us as "legends"

    Beresford
    Albert
    Woodgate
    Barton

    Ginola
    Batty
    Lee
    Waddle

    Beardsley

Not looking great at the back but the 6 in front have a great blend.

I thought Batty was a bit one dimensional.

Its funny how we've both picked a defence that effectively got us relegated (apart from Woody for me). But no one can argue any of them were anything but very good players (and add Bassong to that list), just goes to show how a shambles behind the scenes can demoralise a team.

    ---------Given---------
    --Colo--Woodgate--Albert
    ------Cabaye--Gazza-----
    -Ben Arfa----------Ginola-
    ---------Beardsley--------
    ------Shearer---Cole-----

Not sure we'd be great at the back but we'd fecking score plenty!!

Batty, Speed Lee, Ferdinand, Solano, Krul, Saylor, Enrique, Dyer, Bellamy, Kilcline, Sissoko, Mbiwa, Tiote, Sellars, Robert, Watson, D Kelly, G Peacock, Beresford, Clarkie, Domi, Bernard, D Ferguson, Pearce, Hamman, Owen, Emre, Butt, Milner, Parker, Bassong, Nolan, Barton, Carroll, Santon, Ba, Cisse, Howey, Mirandinha, Liam O'Brien, Venison, M Quinn, Elliott, F Carr, Bracewell were all considered. I'm sure I've missed a few others too!

EDIT - Of course I missed one......PAV!!!! The Srnicek side step will forever live strong in the memory

I'm told I saw Waddle in 85 but I can't remember it. He'd have got in but for that and the fact he is a mackem prick who spoils the commentary to all our games!

Oh I thought this meant in a single game and was going to go for:

Harper; Barton, Dabizas, Helder ( sub Marcelino, 46), Hughes; Solano, Lee, Speed; Gallagher ( sub Dyer, 65); Ferguson ( sub Ketsbaia, 76), Shearer

    Newcastle 6 - Tottenham 1

Though i did get caught outside the stadium and only just got to my seat in time to see us opening the scoring.

There's a few in that team would make my overall best XI but not in the back 5!

He was but if he sat there in front of the back 4 and give the ball to Waddle,Pedro and Ginola thats all that would be needed.

Left out Shearer myself. He was better for Blackburn and I think Cole 92-93 season was better peak for peak for Newcastle. Shearer of coarse was far better than Cole overall. Did not see Supermac myself.
