They have won, they've got away with it this time even with all the fight back, they'll carry on doing it if they feel so inclined, people will realise there's **** all they can do to stop it and the rebellion will run into a dead end. What have we done to stop this from happening again? The very fact that this is still going ahead amongst all the uproar suggests that nothing can really be done, other than to boycott the games and hope the police will see sense. The very fact our fans didn't want to boycott the game means we have done **** all and this is all a waste of time. Hopefully, if this scenario is to happen again or more regularly, other clubs will succeed where we have failed miserably. So yes, this is 1-0 to the WYP.
They've refused to back down when challenged which is them saying they won't be dictated to by fans. What we've achieved is to show that as fans, when these measures are taken for financial/political reasons we can make it cost them more than it would have done any way and kick up a stink that takes the time out of every other related person's day. It hasn't made a difference for this one for the reason above, but they're going to think twice about trying to save money by doing it to us again.
This was all very noble and honourable, and absolutely the right thing to do, but we have a crucial game with little support. Promotion is more important to me than anything else.
But if they keep doing it people will tire of kicking up a stink and travelling 60 odd miles to have a little protest and go home. That was my point, this is the brunt end they're taking this time, if it keeps happening it's only going to get easier.
The protest march isn't the only action. If people want to eat ****, I do hope they don't complain about the portion sizes.
Time to stop pussy footing around. Fans who go are self centred and obnoxious imo. PLEASE no more "I am supporting the team to a precious 3 points"crip. WYP have created a bigger/more costly operation for themselves. Ged has proved he is more stupid than Jed(wood). I hope fans unable to get to the march are able to be at the exit from the KC to give the "fans" a wave. You will be diluting the effect of the protest-and that is a fact.If you do not realise that you should team up with Ged Mac and go on Universally Challenged. Hope you feel ashamed -but somehow I don"t think you will. Unless city win it will be as quiet as a grave in the away end.NO PASSION FANS-FACT! I really hope the team do not applaud your presence
I'm guessing there's some saying that they're going to the game who are doing nothing of the sort, but do like to try and look controversial.
The only thing to shame the WYP and anger SKY will be an empty away end. How can Sky sell their product if the stands are empty and there is no atmosphere? Punters and advertisers will soon wise up and the revenue will dry up. That's when Sky and the football clubs who rely on them will start to take not and panic. Until then they won't. The 400 short-sighted 'fans' who attend tomorrow are selfishly putting their own trainspotter agenda before the wider interest of HCFC and its fanbase. They are rubberstamping the whole bubble game process and endorsing it. They are saying "OK, we accept it". You can guarantee that these flaskers will not be raising the roof. I suspect that any 'provocative' banners will be removed so as not to trouble tv viewers. You can depend on the scum of the WYP to enforce this.
If can't win without away support against ****ty huddersfield, don't deserve to go up, fans being there or not wont affect the game, wish it was a boycott.. really should be, without trying to sound a twat, its proper bad..
Those determined to attend could send a proper message by going in the home stands. By getting there using their own freewill and standing where they choose, they could still support the team and shove another one up the arse of WYP.
It rumbles on, but, What have WYP gained? Financially I would say there is nothing in it. Operationally they have won the day - as is continually said, looking longer term the march is a one-off. Heaven forbid, but if there is any trouble, then . . . What have WYP lost? Face, but they will get over it. Cash, if any, will be a pittance in the general scale of things. What have Huddersfield Town Gained? A sense of solidarity and our respect. What have Huddersfield Town Lost? Gate revenue 3 points, hopefully! What have The Tigers Gained? A sense of solidarity and our respect. A revision to the imposed sanctions. National attention to our behaviour as a football club. What have The Tigers Lost? Ticket revenue and costs. Support at a big gam, it being the next game.
If any of them attending ever again complain about the treatment of football fans I'll be ****ing livid.
You mean like someone who moans about the boss they hate but continue to work under rather than opt to live off the dole?
I think HCFC have not come out of this very well at all. The football club has only belatedly (and seemingly reluctantly) backed the feelings of the large majority of its fans on the issue. They were either not interested in playing an active role in the whole sorry mess or were unable to find a meaningful way of doing it, allowing others to do it in their absence. The revised T&C were a meaningless and symbolic concession by the WYP, who must have pissed themselves at the spineless opposition. They have made no meaningful concessions at all. They have no shame or sense of empathising with innocent parties in any of this- they are entirely focussed on their own money and objectives. I don't think HCFC have lost much money if any in all of this. I hope some people at the club will have learned a trick or two in all of this, and that another time we won't be playing catch-up all the time in the media, and having to react to developments initiated by others. Nothing would please me more (apart from a win) than some kind of clever and witty gesture by the players on TV in support of the absent fans, to show they fully understand the issues at stake and the watching tv audience sees and appreciates this.
It's probably the case that many who travel would have traveled using Tiger Travel anyway, so they are simply doing what they would have done and WYP have not had any effect on them. Let's see how they conduct themselves at the game before judgment is made, as trouble on the march and a dignified protest in the ground would certainly make for an interesting post-match debate. For my part, a simple 3 points and everyone home safe and sound would be superb.
