In the last fortnight I've noticed racist remarks. - IT IS ILLEGAL - IT IS INTOLERABLE - THESE VIEWS ARE SPOUTED BY 2 PEOPLE ON HERE - NO ONE ELSE HAS SUPPORT FOR THEIR VIEWS - MANY PEOPLE HAVE OBJECTED, MANY QUITE STRONGLY (and I believe many more have tried to ignore these 2) Given that our Mods have come under flack recently I do not wish to merge and confuse the issue. I've been away for a week, so I missed the earlier furore, however, I do believe one person was banned from chat due to a posting re the BNP (correct me if I'm wrong about this) Can we please have racist posts and posters dealt with appropriately and even-handedly? This is a community here and certain views should not and need not be condoned by inaction.

I dont condone racism, and i completely undastand what your saying, but im all for freedom of speech. People are going to say things that piss us off and offend from time to time but thats just the way of the world. I dont think this sites supposed to be taken too seriously??
How can you get banned for posting about the BNP? They are a legitimate political party, with some good policies. Also, how do you know who supports who?
Mods need to sort this out, don't need a few idiots spoiling the site for everybody, and expressed racism is a criminal offence, anybody thinking of posting garbage like that here needs to be booted off the site.
And here lies one of the hard parts of moderation, racism. Its easy when the n word is used, obvious racist remarks but sometimes its not that easy. I did the banning on chatbox, not because of racist remarks or the mention of the BNP but because I had to make a judgment. I felt, rightly or wrongly, that the way the conversation was going it would escalate into a racist slanging match so decided to cut it short. Some will agree with what I did, others did not, that’s life in the mod world. On this board, General Chat a lot goes that would not be allowed on other boards, that’s one of the reasons its here and I have to say it always surprises me when people come on and get offended, not saying its what you are doing shameless but the amount of PM’s I get. If general chat offends, don’t go on, surely that’s the sensible answer. That does not mean anything goes, I and I know Mick watch what is happening and if a post is reported I look at it. Still by far the best answer is for everyone to take care of what they write.
Let the racists post their ****e, the forum has enough intelligent, reasonable adults to ridicule them and their views, I belive self moderation is the best option and the only things that should be deleted are certain words. Let these morons show themselves for what they are.
