Yeah I was thinking that too, seems as if MP was a bit confused by that.

 

In the world of picking up Spanish from Pochettino's interviews, it appears there is no convenient Spanish word for break, in the context of interrupting a behaviour pattern over a period of time. Poch and the interpretor were using break all the time, in Spanish. Must look that up.

Since football was developed here, it's not surprising that English terms are used, especially in a multilingual dressing room. I especially love it when the words 'training ground' appear suddenly in a torrent of Spanish.

 

That's weird, after his u21 injury someone tweeted at Shaw asking him if he would be fit for Chelsea and he said he'd be 100%.

 

Yeah but if you ask a player how long it'll be before he's back and then ask his doctor you'll more often than not get different answers, young players in particular. Combination of being hungry to play and thinking you're invincible.

 

Adkins said once that players lie, but he was wise to it. No doubt the medical team rely on more than just asking a kid if he's fit. Shaw seems to be a bit prone to injuries at the moment...perhaps it's a persistent niggle. Can happen with youngsters...they need protecting (even though we'd rather play him every week). Such a shame he missed two u21 call ups...a sign perhaps of an underlying problem. At least, Pearce has said he's still in his mind for the u21 Championship.

Does no-one else think it's a bit of a coincidence that Shaw has been injured for both his U21 call-ups so far but fit to play the games around them?

I think he's perfectly fit, they just don't want to overwork him at such a young age. I imagine an agreement has been reached between us and the FA to that effect, after all, if he is given time to recover now, he will be fitter and more able to play regularly for England in future.

 

Any one see Phil Neville has tweeted Ramirez is the toughest player he has played against this season? As for Shaw I agree I think he is fine.

 

By the way Saints v Chelsea is the commentary game on 5 live tomorrow so anyone who hasn't got Saints Player and not going to the game can listen in.
