With O'Toole leaving after Mondays game, we are short in midfield areas. Ward has admitted he has been turned down by a couple of players in the lead up to the loan window closing. He said: âI have tried. I was turned down on a couple players yesterday who I tried to get in to bolster the squad. I am still having a little look today but probably without as much enthusiasm. We have a couple of players back, and we should have Oli Norburn back next weekend for the final five games. So if I cannot bring in a new face today then I am not going to lose sleep over it. We will crack on and try and do the best we can with the group we have, because it is a good group.â So no great lose as Norburn will be back but how fit? And if we get another injury in midfield then were struggling. We need 6 points from these 2 games over the weekend which pretty much confirms our safety.
Well I suppose it does give JW the option to maybe try some more youngsters in the starting line up or he could do a MM and play players out of position
Although we will miss O'Toole Ward has a number of options...some better than others! Goddard, Harding, Norburn, Clarke, Woodards, Paterson, Parkes, Smith (some of these would involve a bit of reshuffling)
exactly. if they dont want to be here then forget them. hopefully gone are the days where we overpay on wages to get players here. we want players who want to be here.
I would be a bit disappointed if O'Toole didn't come back he would be a great signing but I'm sure JW could find another of the same quality
Odd really as a midfielder who joins us now may win a contract over the summer if they fit and perform well, perhaps they have aspirations at a higher level which would make sense as for JJ he has done us proud help stiffen up the spine of the team and allow midfielders such as Norburn to grow into there role.If he returns great if not as long as JW picks up a similar player for next season perhaps 2 that would be a plus. We are in a pickle at the mo in midfield and as CJ rightly states we need to confirm safety by winning vs York on Sat hopefully some of the teams below us lose tonight and also over easter then when JJ departs JW can reshuffle to fill the gaps it will probably be as it was before very poor to watch but we will already be safe fingers crossed.
