Damn shame. He had so much potential but injuries have all but ruined it. He has a contract until 2014 and we should keep him until the end of it and see how much we can get out of him. I quite liked him
I think he should just retire for the sake of his body, he's had ankle problems, then calf problems, now it's his knee.
He's been compensated financially for his time at the club with a sum of money most can only dream of, now THAT'S modern football. Its sad that his injury problems have been so severe but we shouldn't feel that sorry for him.
I agree that wages are nothing to feel sorry about, but the bloke's career has been ravaged by injuries. He could have been a top quality player, and it's a sad sequence of events for him that have led him to where he is and I think any player who gives their commitment to Arsenal deserves respect. But to be honest it does look like his career with us barring a miracle, is probably over.
I'm still surprised that he's out for 9 months for just a torn ACL. Normally they get sorted out in well under half that time.
I think it depends on the severity. Some players have done their cruciate ligament and never played again.
That should be the end of his career at Arsenal, in all honesty. A great shame, but we have to move on. I feel sorry for Diaby, because he clearly has the talent, and his career was ruined by some ****ing thug at Sunderland. Ever since that day, it's been injury after injury for him. The start of this season seemed like a new beginning for Diaby, but sadly that was not the case in the end.
Why, why, why, does Diaby have such glass legs. He has the ability to play to the level of yaya toure and be considered one of the best players in the league or even europe. But he can't string together more than a handful of games without getting injured! This latest injury will take him very close to the end of his contract and it may well be that this is his time to part ways with the club. Personally i'd wait and see how he comes back from this injury at the end of next season. If he manages to get back to fully fit before his contract runs out i'd give him a one year contract on a pay as you play type deal. I'd sign a new player to replace him and use him as a back-up/squad player to fill in when the first team need rotation (if we kept him fit enough to just ste in occasionaly he'd be a great player to have). If however following this injury he has little set-backs and niggling injuries for the remainder of the season i'd allow him to leave on a free. He's a player i really expected to see become an Arsenal great, he has the physical presence and technical ability to totally dominate games. A real shame.
So many potential greats ruined by thugs: Diaby, Eduardo, Ramsey was almost ruined by Shawcross, etc...
I was listening to the radio last night and someone was saying Diaby was injury prone at Auxerre before he ever joined us.
Why would you retire when you can make over 2 million are year sitting on your ass and getting regular massages? Such a hard life.
I posted a link on here before and also said that Diaby was injury prone before he joined us, it's not true that all his injury woes have been down to that tackle he suffered against Sunderland.
The injury Diaby suffered at Sunderland not only affected him physically, but also mentally. Plus two season's ago he was on the wrong end of two terrible tackles in the space of a week. One of was by that clogger, Paul Robinson and then the other by Essien.
