What happened to the thread regarding declineing standards in the Biritish game?
In response to the OP -
I would argue that a big big part of our "not adapting to the changes in world football" stems from the lack of quality training facilities.
The weather in this country ruins our pitches so that they become bogs. You cannot teach kids to play in these conditions. Maintaining young kids' interest on a cold day, in poor conditions is very difficult when all they want to do is play to keep warm.
I think the answer is a mass rollout of 3g pitches as this encourages 5 aside or 7 a side games, which will inherantly improve a players short burst play, coupled with techinique, touch and passing. That is how you teach players to play like spain (well actually that is how you teach the technique, as there is also a philosophy too) whereas it is no surprise that when you are young, on a bad pitch you just want to " get it clear", "knock it long", lump it to the big/fast kid upfront....and that is how the prem is played.
Does anyone know anything about these kinds of pitches, and how much they would cost to install in schools, sports clubs etc?
