Point taken. He may well have influenced the character of the band, but the quality of their's and The Sex Pistol's music was uncomparable. ID & The Bs songs were like nursery rhymes with just a repetiive hook and nothing more.
NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILY/WORK Have to disagree again- they had plenty of raw stuff, just that Annie Nightingale etc chose to ignore it. They were extremely clever nursery rhymes and like Dr Feelgood, they have lasted much better than the more trendy or popular stuff around at the time. Also like Dr Feelgood, they perfected their act the hard way over years. Not just via a haircut and bondage pants.
Jeez, there's some rubbish posted on this thread. People can either like, or not like The Beatles, that's a matter of personal choice, but anyone who denies their contribution to popular music is clueless. I seem to have missed Killing Joke off my original list, for which I feel deeply ashamed. I can't believe nobody has mentioned The Abusers yet, 'We Don't Know The ****ing Words' was a classic and no mistake.
We aren't going to agree on this one. The most important thing to me with music is what I actually hear and for that reason I always thought they were very poor.
I met Ian Dury once, at a party in Camden in the late 80's, he had something about him, one of those people who was a just a cut above. Lovely bloke.
Yep, it would be **** if we all agreed all the time and had the same tastes. Not a massive fan of ID &TB at the time, but I can see now they were for 20 or 30 somethings, whereas at the time I went for the younger stuff. Ditto Dr Feelgood- never bought their stuff and they were derided back in 77, but can now see they were strong enough to go their own way when so many either withered and died, or pretended to be punks. The Sex Pistols were a manufactured band by Malcolm McLaren. Hardly the essence of "punk" is it? There were some great punk bands around. The Sex Pistols were neither punk nor great and indeed could not even play the limited three chords.
I don't give a fook what you say, Noel Gallagher is a Godlike genius.
Noel Gallagher, Godlike Genius more like (if that was the award he's won?) Noel was key to Oasis' success and rightly so. Liam was just a drunk, neanderthal who would rather punch paparazzi. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are a brilliant band, the songs are refreshing and well-written (AKA... What A Life/Broken Arrow, Everybody's On The Run etc). Liam's new one, Beady Eye.. Well, maybe one or two could pass for average (Millionaire and The Roller), but every other song is ****e.
Liam does write some very good songs tho, this ones a tune
Liam did write some good ones, I'm not saying that, but when it comes to comparing the two, Noel wins by a Country mile.
He does i agree, but i love liams 'swag' and his pacey singing, gets you in the mood it does, proper love noels acoustic versions of oasis stuff tho, incredible
Bloody hell, forgot about that. Changed 100% Correct. Look at which songs Noel wrote in comparison to Liam: The first two albums, Step Out, The Masterplan, Listen Up, Round Are Way, Idler's Dream, TIOBI, SCYHO, Go Let It Out, Falling Down, etc. Liam wrote Little James. 'Nuff said. NGHFB Is far superior to Beady Eye in every way as well. It is the best album Noel has done since Morning Glory. (Masterplan doesn't count)
Could listen to this all day
