Exactly, it's about their worth to the club. Chelsea fans will think Cork was crap as he never played for them and was sold for only £750k. If someone like West Ham tried to buy Cork from us, we'd want about £10 million.

Selective reading, I think DTLW. Someone mentioned he got the man of the match award for his performance. Besides, I always thought his kicking was OK-ish, if inconsistent. Let's face it, when it comes to kicking, even Kelvin's has historically been distinctly dubious. Goalkeeper's are often not footballers. As we know, Gazziniga is a superb kicker, and if I remember correctly, was a footballer before he was a keeper. Artur's pretty reasonable too. :)

Chappers at 50k was one of the best bits of business Saints have done in years. It was no coincience that Saints form dipped when he got injured - good luck to him, he`s a good player.

Talking of ex-Saints and Saints lads - Sam Hoskins is on for Stevenage with 15 to go.

It is sad to know that you are unable to show due respect for the players who played a major part in getting us to where we are now.

EDIT: I posted this the moment I read the rather unpleasant original post but I have since read the comments by others. It is reassuring to know that we have at least a few respectful fans.

I think Cork at 750k eclipses that deal.

Hoskins missed couple of chances, but so did all the Stevenage team.

So you just happened to not read my post were I said I respect a lot of the players that I now deem crap . I just very blunt is all, i'm same at work and the same with people in my life. There's no point in trying to gloss over something that can be said in fewer words.

I agree that we have the makings of a good side, but our problem is about squad depth. If our aim is as NC says that he wants us to not just make up the numbers in the PL then we are going to need quite a large squad of good players. Currently I would say that we have about 10-12 players who could be in a squad in the top half of the league. If we go by you need 2 players for every position it means that we are about 10 players away from having a squad capable of finishing top half.

I know that isn't going to happen over a single transfer window, but I think we will make some large strides towards it this summer (provided we stay up).

How you say something reflects your character, BD. People will judge you by it and respect you for it. On here, we have only one way of communicating, and remember, when you write, you write to everyone who reads your comments. I'm not suggesting you change your approach in your everyday life, but quite obviously there are posters here who think you could choose your words better [and I'm not just talking about myself]. You can keep it as concise as you like, but perhaps in this case, you could choose a word that's less damning of players who we have cheered and supported as little as two or three seasons ago.

The fact that we are tying down some players to longer contracts shows that Nicola is well aware that we need to keep the core of the side intact. Evolution not revolution.

Being offensively rude or as you like to call it being blunt is not some sort of virtue.

This is the man who called Artur "Utter Bollox" right?

Beef has said nothing worse. Let me give you a hand with that high-horse.

Agree, Cork was a steal at 750k too.

£1 million for that Rickie Lambert was surely the best bit of business Southampton have ever done?

Never mind Rickie's price, think about the millions he has earnt for the club by helping get us into the PL. That's what he's really worth.

Nah, he's not worth that much.

But who cares because I couldn't care to sell him - and nor should the club.

Rickie's value is 101 goals, countless assists and numerous shirt sales.
