Anyone watch this on BBC 1? Normally before MOTD. The funniest programme on TV by a country mile...

Do you think Mr Bean is funny too Sooper? Amazing how different tastes can be. I'd have a better chance of getting laughs out of Newsnight than either Mr Bean or Mrs Brown.

Don't like Mr Bean..love Mrs Brown. I've no idea why.. both are harmless and stupid but only 1 makes me laugh.. 'Shooting Stars' and 'Harry Hill's Tv Burp' I loved too.. laughter is often unanalysable (is that a word?)

Never really got into Mr Bean's type of humour, the difference with Mrs Brown is my in-laws were from Dublin and the characters are really spot-on in this programme, had many a good laugh in Dublin...

Mrs Brown (Brendan o'carroll) in real life is from Finglas!

Not sure I'm so proud of that! The character's funny but he's an arsehole.

He is indeed an arsehole, my missus used to babysit his kids after he separated from his wife, he treated his family like **** back then.
Never really enjoyed 70's humour.

It is clever comedy if you have witnessed the Irish close at hand. My partner for many years had a sister that married (Sort of) a Priest. i went to the wedding and it was so funny with characters just like in Mrs. Brown. That blond daughter is spot on.

Is Miranda the same bloke that played 'Jaws' in 007's Moonraker?

Watched a few episodes of "married with children" the other week. Al Bundy. Classic comedy gold. I give you this example. Al comes downstairs with a towel on his head and the wife asks what he's doing. Al; I want to be a New York taxi driver. Wouldn't get away with that now but very funny..

Don't get Mrs Brown, don't know anybody who does. Not on the same planet as Father Ted or the Royle family. But that's just what it looks like from where I'm sitting, quite prepared to accept its just my opinion.

never seen it but almost everyone lists it in a worst sitcom thread as one of the worst 5 ever. Now MWC is a great sitcom, all you had to do is ask the guy who plays al to phone people up to wish them happy birthday and hed do it in character.

Hes great in modern family too.

Matilda:[a fat woman from the gym] I don't understand it, I was a size 6 before aerobics class. All that jumping must've expanded my foot.
Al: And I see you must have fallen on your butt a time or two.
Matilda: How dare you say that to my face?!
Al: Well I'd say that behind your back but my car's got only a half a tank of gas!

Mrs Brown is **** but Miranda makes it look like Fawlty Towers. What the **** is funny about a fat posh bird falling over?

Agree with that.
Miranda "comically" falls over.
Miranda pulls a "comedic" face.
If I ever see her again it will be too soon!!

I also really like "Not going out" with Lee Mack and Tim Vine. Still laugh at the repeats.

I've only seen about 5 minutes of Mrs Brown's Boys. It was not for me, it reminded me of some of those truly awful sitcoms that ITV used to show in the 70s.

I quite enjoyed the first series of Miranda, but the second has been almost a re-run but just more desperate. No new ideas, nothing really to commend it. I like the "talking directly to the viewers" method, breaking the 4th wall as it is known. Does anyone remember "It's Garry Shandling's Show" in the late 80s? He did it superbly.

Col, I still enjoy "Not Going Out" too. I recently saw the 1st series again with the american girl, she was far better than I remember her being.
