For those proud of their Humberside regional heritage, are you more excited by the prospect of Grimsby playing at Wembley today, or indeed by the other upcoming regional 'flagship' game between Hull and Rovers. Will Radio 'Umbersard be covering the open top bus parade throughout the region tomorrow if Grimsby win. Indeed, I am sure that fans will also be dancing in Letsbe 'Avin'ue at the prospect the biggest derby in the country next week. Reminder for Gwylim - don't forget to remind the last one out of Lincoln to turn the lights out before leaving for the rugby match!

I believe Grimsby will be playing their game on Sunday in front of a sparsely-populated plastic rip-off bowl crowd against Wrexham.

Fingers crossed for the Welsh team.

I could never be proud of ANYTHING contaminated by the word "Humberside". If I have to have an association with a regional area then it has to be Yorkshire, or at a pinch I can accept The Humber area. Humberside should be consigned back into the garbage bin where the bureaucrats originally found it.

See numerous previous threads on 'Humberside'.

It was not 'invented' in 1974- it had been around for many decades before then. It was only in 1974 that it was used as an administrative local government term.

Th term Humberside will continue to be used in the media by journalists to describe the area around the Humber estuary.

Better just get used to it.

    Could be a win- win.

Wrexham **** them up at Wembley, and their already-stalled promotion back into the league campaign continues to flounder as a result of low morale <ok>

As it's so important to the whole region, a bit like Hull v Rovers, I presume Radio 'Umbersard will be covering it?'

Wrexham have had between 12 and 30 inches of snow over the last 3 days depending where you live. Whilst they've sold in the region of 20k tickets many simply cannot get out of their own road.

It's odd though as Chester (12 miles away) has had no snow.

Oh by the way, if we need to go to Wembley in late May, forget the train, unless you fancy a coach stage from Goole to Donny, as the line will still be knacked

    You bet.

Yellow belly David Burns revealing his true colours.

Keeley D on Look North also playing the Mariners card.

All we need now is for Charles Ekberg to be exhumed from his tomb.

not threatened. i d sooner have local news about our local teams. For instance, Ferriby and York are interesting right now and are local. 'they' (as you call them), have nothing in common or of interest to any of 'us', and 'we' neither with 'them'. I'd as sooner hear about Tranmere as Grimsby. Our locality has been defined by faceless BBC executives in the smoke and you seem to revel and condone it?

    Bollocks.

I think Burnsy's great, he supports all 3 teams and is always bigging up Hull and East Yorkshire.

I don't like Humberside any more than you and Mussie, but I have no problem with the local sports coverage at all and it actually makes me want Grimsby and Scunny to do well.
