The Safety Advisory Group decide the stewarding/policing of the stadium and that's basically the police(there's fire and ambulance officers on there, along with SMC staff, but no representative from either City or FC, at least until now). That's about to change, so hopefully things will improve, but at the moment, what ever the police request, they get.
Thanks for that. It seems to me that there is no uniformity or consistency across the country and this should be the case as sport crosses all boundaries. Just an idea, but would it not be a good thing to pay for all policing costs, across all leagues, from the Sky money and only then is it divvied (Control through the FA, for instance). This would help create some form of standard pricing and a clear and transparent means of policing levels, easy access to precedents and a central database on incident for security ratings on a national basis? Not going to happen overnight, but the good work of the FSF needs another vehicle to move commonsense further forward.
It interesting to read the posts re the hand held video cameras. Operationally the operator has a dual role. The VEO (Video Evidence Officer) is tasked to record the actions of Police Officers and Offenders. They have to film as much of any operation as they can. They are trying to film every aspect of the operation from start to finish. This includes at football matches the crowd individuals, stewards and Police Officers. The video is vital as a control. But it is often misused. The control element is a bit like the tachograph in a truck. If there is an incident in the crowd Police believe that taking statements from football supporters will not be productive. They need another form of evidence, video. They also need a timeline. Every police operation that involves a crowd has a VE unit
Do not wish to get unpleasant again over this . I just cannot see the idea of going to Match as anything but a sell out. I sincerely hope people will reconsider. I have many great moments I like to talk about as a fan.I think for years to come I would cringe if asked if I went on the march or to the match and I had been to the match.
Maybe it is and maybe it isn't, but as long as it does not harm anyone then it's just an opinion and choice. I would hope we are all big enough to express our views, do the game in our own style and simply move on. Personally I believe that the important thing is that the choice is mine.
All i've ever seen is the police filming us, never them selves and when ever someone be it in or out a ground has recorded them they've demanded it be turned off even though we are in our civil rights to film officers
how about the bigger picture and that's 3 points we direly need to secure 2nd place .. or has that taken a back step now ?
I can fight my human rights corner any time, but I agree and I said it weeks ago, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. These moral issues surround us with regularity, promotion does not. This has been hijacked; if anyone wants to fight for civil liberty there are far bigger and more obnoxious examples than this.
"But it is often misused" was part of my post. You can film who you like and what you like outside the ground. You cannot film the game. Film Police if you want don't be frightened off by what they say. If they do nothing wrong what's the harm.....its their view as well.
I will be proud to tell my kids and my grandkids I did not go to the match(even though for selfish reasons I wanted to.) This is now one of those major landmarks in the Tiger Nation history. You will not be able to wish away a mistake you make now. I feel this may need to be stashed away as a guilty little secret by some of those who do attend. This is not intended to be offensive.Merely a plea for people to re consider
Convince us then. At the moment I think having people at the march and the game is best for the club. I'm yet to be convinced that a full boycott will help anything so go ahead and convince me.
Will it be funny if it's called off? Maybe due to the weather of power failure. I think I'd laugh like a drain at the expense and humiliation WYP have put themselves through if it turns out to be for absolutely nothing.
âFor reference I live on a working class housing estate in the NE.â Actually, I shouldn`t have brought social class into it. Your point about the doling out respect to the police seemed so naïve I (wrongly) made assumptions about your life. Apologies. âSo being a football fan excludes me from being respectful of others? Maybe in your world.â Of course not, but we are talking about the police and football here - there's a lot of history. Sure, many instances of good policing will go unreported (although I have read of such on HCAFC forums in the past), but Iâve seen all sorts of disgraceful behaviour at the football from the police. âOn the other thread, one of your criticisms against me was: "You sum up the individualistic âcouldnât give a ****â attitude that is prevalent today." â I think youâve misunderstood. That was a response to café and wasn`t actually aimed at anyone directly. I think (without checking) he was talking about the lack of will of people in general to unite these days to face adversity and I think he also alluded to the contemporary cult of the individual over solidarity of the many. That was what I referring to and not you.
They do but only in black and white.Plus they are all fascinated by the technology of a camera.Did you know you could leave your door open on Essle Road.EAST HULL TIGERS!
I wonder how many of the outraged on these threads were that bothered about it when other matches have been bubbled? I wonder how many will be joining up for marches and actually giving a **** for any other clubs after this is all done. Forum Warrioring doesn't count.
