Nosworthy injured, probably until the end of the season, and Lloyd an unused sub. Good one @jamaica. No, really. Terrific. #watfordfc
Reported that he requires surgery on his Achilles Tendon after an "innocuous challenge"

Lucky we have a large squad I suppose :(

Crap - let's hope that one size is fit again very soon. I see that Lansbury was injured playing for the U21's

****! This aint good!!!! It just proves that even a 40 man squad can be stretched by injuries. Our back line is seriously weakened, and we have to hope that Fitz is fit and can stay fit for 11 games.

Last I heard, he was seeing a specialist in italy but couldnt comment on it. I suspect he will be out for the rest of the season.

One size was on the bench in our last game so he will come in for the injured Nos. An experienced commanding centre half coming in for an experienced commanding centre half, nothing to worry about.

Six weeks in plaster, then six more with physio, then three months of no sport was my sentence. The biggest problem was trying to get movement back in the ankle, then having the confidence to start using it.

Still I have recovered now, so am available at a pinch. ;)

I think that Fitz is ok, so will not go searching for the boots just yet!

True - unless, of course, he manages to pick up another injury...........

Not that easy Frenchie ..... All transfers are currently embargoed and are you a domcstic loan-in, international loan-in, liability etc ?

Wouldn't be a problem, yorkie - I'd say he is well and truly an out of contract player and not subject to transfer rules........

The two things we don't want to do are play a one striker formation, or play someone out of position in a huge match.

Wouldn't it be ironic if things got worse, and our stereotypical Italian manager's answer was a 4-4-2 (probably a diamond, quite possibly with Eustace as the anchor)? I can see it happening.

I cant. Battochio, Hogg, Abdi, Chalobah and even Mark Yeates are all ahead of Eustace in the midfield selection/pecking order. And I cant see Zola ever playing 4-4-2 either. Plus we have been playing with 2 strikers for the entire season.

A 4-4-2 diamond, with a very defensive midfielder, attack-minded full backs and three central midfielders isn't all that different to a 3-5-2. Would that really be a more drastic step than playing someone out of position at centre back, or worse yet, Dickinson?

I agree with your assessment of our midfield pecking order, but if we only had two centre backs and wanted to put a holding player in front of them, it would be a straight battle between Eustace and Hogg (Battocchio, Chalobah and Abdi would presumably play the other three midfield positions, and there's no way Yeates would be picked as a defensive midfielder ahead of Eustace).

Should still leave Hall, Doyley, Ekstrand and Briggs, with Hoban when back fit plus Cassetti can cover if need be

At the moment it looks like Hoban won't be back for another few weeks, Hall hasn't played in six weeks, and Cassetti will be needed at wing back as often as not. That leaves two first teamers, plus a loanee who I believe has only ever played one game in this formation.
