If we go down the wage bill drops dramatically. Quinn handed over to short and our players all have clauses to drop their wages if they play in the championship and also relegation release clauses so I honestly think we'll be ok.... Short term anyhow. If we don't get straight back up I have no idea!!

Short is a multi-billionaire, so going bust isn't a concern.

Heavy losses despite almost £30million from IIA & Adidas is a massive worry though.

Your turnover has barely changed in a few years. Therefore your sponsorship is more or less the same now as it was then, there is no £20m from IIA unless I'm missing something. It must have been performance based after al (like has been reported)l. I could never understand why they would pay Sunderland £20m when they could have sponsored you for much less or alternatively chosen a bigger club to put their money into.

If you are that much into it, pay Companies House £3 and access all their information.

Lol. The £3 was said in jest. It does not cost that much to get financial reports of companies though.

This doesn't mean Sunderland are in trouble really, it just means they are reliant on their owner. If you go down you could/would trim your wage bill and come back stronger (like Newcastle did), sometimes its an opportunity to blood fringe players and get some good playing time. Worst case scenario is Eliis walking away, so long as that doesn't happen I think you're fine in both the short term and the long term.

Ideally you'll get to a position which Newcastle purport to be getting towards (of sustainability) but even then you'll have lots of fans screaming for "more investment" (as at Arsenal and Newcastle), ignorant to the fact the overspending leaves you in a precarious position.

And here lies the confusion, your memory serves you correctly, but the figures above are for 2011/12 when we were sponsored by Tombola.

This seasons figures 2012/13 will include this years sponsorship Invest in africa

And btw, have a sift through these, I suppose the worlds news got the £20m wrong :

SAFC themselves said it was £20m. 4th highest in the whole world of football (bettered only by Barca, Man Utd and Bayern Munich) and IIA became our sponsor after the tombola deal ended which does not take into account last years takings. So therefore your bee in your bonnet thinking "Sunderland can't get that much because Newcastle don't" is rubbish. Next years released figures will include the Adidas and IIA money
