Put this deal into context. hes cost the same as a certain Jordan Rhodes and look what were getting! And he's probably on less than Rhodes too...
Check this out, even if RVW is with us for just one season, as Delboy would say; "Double yout money, gonna get rich!" http://ninetyminutesonline.com/2013...-norwich-bound-striker-ricky-van-wolfswinkel/
This may sound blunt but thats probably half the reason why we have signed him so early, get him cheap and make a HOOOGE profit on him in a year or so time. we could not pass up a oppertunity like this and like the article says i'm too very suprised someone like spurs or liverpool didnt get involved. Begs the question, did we striker a deal for first refusal in January??
More to the point, how on earth are the Barclay and the Snakepit going to create a song or a chant for him ? Other than, "Wolfie, Wolfie" I'm struggling
It's been rumoured that we're paying most of the fee up front because of Lisbon's dire financial problems. Could it also be that by doing this City have avoided paying tax on this money as we approach the end of the financial year ? More Brownie points for DM ?
Spot on and I'm sure other players may well look at us signing RVW and decide to join him - as long as their 'WAGS' don't want to live in London!!!! It's going to be quite expensive to have his name on the back of your shirt though!!!! PS - Some greaat comments from fans of other clubs and a touch of jealousy!!! Read them here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21877134
..... but why go and compound the original poor choice of words with another? Quote: "... it means that Hughton really has no excuse to play the negative football ......" He doesn't have to look for excuses; he has been given a priority target -- survival in the league -- and he has to achieve it with the resources available to him. At the start of the season we were among the favourites for relegation. We are still not quite safe, but we are no longer among the favourites for the drop. It hasn't always been pretty since Christmas, but few people were talking about our dire negative football when we were on our 10 match unbeaten run. However, my original comment was aimed not at you Billy, but at those who have read into the recent poor games our entire future under Hughton's management.
Robbie, why do you always look for an argument fella? It's a happy, happy day for NCFC - let's just enjoy it!
I haven't been this excited about a new signing since Huckerby. CH is is sure building a solid team to stay in the Premier League and even hopefully finish in the top ten. All the people that say Hughton is too negative, I'm sure when he has the team he wants, then we'll see a different performance. Also I don't think he's too negative anyway.
According to the BBC you got a bargain as well , his buy out clause is / was £18.5 million .............
Excellent - though quite lengthy article about our new capture here. He does sound remarkably grounded for a 24 year old - let's hope he makes the transition from Lisbon to Loddon (or wherever) as quickly as he adapted to Portugal from Holland. http://netherlands.worldcupblog.org/world-cup-2010/ricky-van-wolfswinkel-prince-of-portugal.html
