TV Licence inspector

If you write to them and tell them you withdraw the implied right of access to your property then they are no longer allowed to send inspectors round. So all they can do is hassle you with letters which you can just bin.

 

indeed and that will serve them better too to collect their commission per head rather than per address

Over in Ireland they are working on the legislation now so that if you have an internet connection you pay the license cos RTE have a few **** websites. This is to net in all the foreigners as well as those who just don't watch the national channels or TV even, RippOffMuch €180 is what it costs there and when you seeing them paying total twats over 900k a year!! our population is fk all and they pay ****s salaries like that from the license money and run adds like any other non publicly funded channel too. So glad to be out of that sh!thole


Less than a 100 years ago they fought for and died for our independence, now Ireland is controlled by Germany. Ireland has €600 billion of natural resources yet we need a bailout? People have become sheep. Seems "They" died for nothing.

I don't mind the licence itself so much as whenever I see the state of TV/News funded by advertising it makes me despair for humanity. But the behaviour and attitude of the "inspectors" plus their tone in the letters they send out is disgusting.

Lets be right, if you've not got one then unless your some tree hugging beard who won't allow himself to be polluted by the tv medium man, then the odds are that you're taking the piss & so by definition you're a bit slippery, so they have to be a bit sly to try & catch you off guard

 

Nothing slippery about me, I'm just a skint student that refuses to bend over and get rammed by the ****s. Asking us to pay for one licence each just takes the piss.

 

Surely if you have a communal living room then 1 licence would suffice?

If you've not got 1 for the entire address then of course they'll take an interest

Completely agree re: the state of BBC TV. Really pisses me off when they start pulling ****e like bidding against ITV for complete **** like The Voice. There is no ****ing reason for the BBC to pay £11 million for ****e like that just so the program makers can try to compete with all the identikit Simon Cowell bollocks on ITV.

If each student has their own room with a lockable door then technically you need one for every student who has a TV in their room. We always got **** from the licensing company at uni - fortunately our uni was on the ball and withdrew implied consent from the inspectors so they couldn't wander the halls trying to catch people out.

 

I agree about the beeb bidding for junk tv making zero sense

Back in the day students were excluded from needing a licence in their digs providing that their parents had one at their family home - common sense went out the window at some point

 

100% agree .. it is scandalous that public money is wasted like that

 

RTE A channel for farmers and country bumkins, utter tosh - now with added advertisements, hardly one decent program on all week. The beeb is a shining example compared to that load of crap €180 license fee for literally nothing in return, plus they pay Sky millions to carry the fooqin channel too just so they could turn off the analogue signal Grrrrr

About the time the Beeb decided they were the moral guardians of society. I remember when they published that internal memo saying they had a 'responsibility to endorse liberal socialism' or some such. Just **** off and make good TV programmes. Nothing more, nothing less.
