Hi there lads, First, I'll introduce myself. My name is Paul Baaijens, 24 years old and currently living in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The last 5 years, i fell in love with London football. I've seen Charlton, Spurs, West-Ham and Fulham-matches, but I want more. Thats why in December 2013, I will leave my country vor 5/6 weeks and I want to go live in London. My love for London (especially the football) is that big that I want to know how it feels like to live in this city. Within this periode, I have a clear goal: visit all of the 14 London professional footballclubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham, QPR, Millwall, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Leyton Orient, D&R, Barnet, AFC Wimbledon) and I want to write a book about it. I'm not sure what's interesting to investigate about London Football, but I want to focus me on the supporters, pubs, stadiums, some good supporterstories etc. I have some specific questions: Specific questions: - Accomodation: what is a good (quality/price) hostel in the city centre? - Purchasing tickets: I know for Chelsea and Arsenal it will be difficult, but do you think there's a possibility to purchase the tickets as soon as the playingschedule 13-14 is announced? Or do I have to wait for General Sale? - E-mail clubs: do I make any chance when I send an e-mail to the clubs to ask if they could do me a favour: visit training, get in touch with players, send me nice information? - Supporters: I want to get in touch with the supporters of the 14 clubs. I want to meet them and get to know where the love for their club comes from, what's that great about their club and get some good photofootage/stories for my book. Where can I find those supporters? At the not606-fora? What are the odds they will help me? - The book: what is a good subject for my book? In Holland there's no literature about London football so in fact I can choose what to write about. Do you have a good idea or english literature? I'm already reading Dougie Brimsons' Geezer Guide to Football and some other Fan Guides. Do you have some (additional) general advise for me? Thanks in advance! All the best, Paul
Do us a favour mate and throw away the Dougguie Brimson book. the man's an utter disgarce and an embarrassment to a great club. I don't know if you're including Watfird but if you are i would recommend you go onto their forum as they're a very friendly and welcoming bunch and I'm sure they'll help. Regardless, you should be abel to get a ticket for one of our games easily enough.
It's not that obvious for me which clubs are in 'London'. Watford isn't located in London, it's just outside isn't it? Does anyone know which clubs are 'officially' located in London?
