  3. My earliest memories of Liverpool is of the great 1988-89 team with Barnes, Aldridge, Beardsley etc. however, I was only seven-eight years old then so I don't remember it too well.

My first proper memory if from the early 90's under Roy Evans. McManaman, Fowler, Redknapp, Wright, Rush, Barnes and co running the league round in circles in the 352 system we used to employ. I loved watching us under Roy, it was great entertainment, unfortunately Roy only got a League Cup for his efforts <ok>

This but it wasn't until about 97-98 tha I really sarted to get into Liverpool and that was a bit after Barnes I think and the beginning of the Owen, Carra, Gerrard, Gary Mac, Berger, etc coming in. <ok>

  5. Houllier's tactics where certain a bump down to earth <laugh>

How anyone thought that Houllier and Evans could work together is beyond me, two completely contrasting styles <doh>

Think Evans got his legs cut from under him there. Reading through Fowlers book ( good read btw) a lot of the players were a bit astounded as they were so close to pushing on and had all this young english talent and Houllier came in and basically got rid/froze out.

  7. Roy has spoken about Houllier's appointment a few times now. Roy was asked what he thought about Gerard coming in to work alongside him but more like a assistant or a DoF (not quite) type which roy agreed to but admits he shouldn't have in hindsight. However, when it was announced they were introduced as joint managers instead <doh>

Evans has said he should have walked from day one too. He will always have my respect, he is a Liverpool legend <ok>

Indeed, you also think that if the CL format as it is now was around when he was in charge, we would have been in the CL pretty much that entire time. Might ( just might) have made some noise as well.

  9. Indeed. You could also say that had Collymore not decided to act the **** after a season then he could well have won more too, especially once we got Ince in to sure up the midfield <ok>
