22 Mar 2013 08:10:00 1 Asia's most decorated player may call it quits after his two-year contract with the relegation-threatened side expires in 2014, despite calls for a K-League swansong QPR midfielder Park Ji-Sung could retire after the 2013-2014 Premier League Season, father Sung-Jong has claimed. The former South Korea captain has struggled since leaving Manchester United last summer, and may step down after the conclusion of his current contract in what will have been a career lasting 14 years. "My son has had difficult times at QPR this season; it was a new experience to him," the elder Park said in an interview with Sports Chosun. "He's never had times like this with PSV Eindhoven or Manchester United. "Nobody knows the future; maybe he could play one more year with a new team after next season. But I think [Ji-Sung] has made his mind up to retire." Park, who turned 32 last month, began his career with Japan's Kyoto Sanga just months after making his national team debut. After winning the 2002 Emperor's Cup with Sanga, he captured two Eredivisie titles with PSV before a trophy-laden seven years with Manchester United that included four Premier League wins and the 2008 Uefa Champions League crown. Yet despite being one of Asia's most popular footballers, Sung-Jong denied that his son would return for a victory lap in his native country before hanging up his boots. "He won't play in the K-League," he elaborated. "He wants Korean football to be popular but he wouldn't be able to perform well. "He thinks he's played enough." In reality Fergusen retired him last season and we (Hughes) f*kked up big time bringing him to QPR. He should quit now if he doesn't believe himself he can step up again, as his Dad implies according to this. He clearly has not got the skill or any longer the speed to compensate for lack of skill, needed to play at PL level. or Championship level come to that.
Only the board know how much he has contributed to the 'QPR global brand' concept but the many Korean fans you see at HQ nowadays will certainly not be there when he has gone I suspect.
Have a good moan lads if it makes you feel better ... any one watched the last three games? If you have then try arguing a point against me that He hasn't played well. Simple fact is he is still a very good player indeed and clearly has the skill, passion and fight and the Championship comment is simply put is a pile of absolute ****
"He wants Korean football to be popular but he wouldn't be able to perform well." He obviously doesn't mind not performing well for QPR however...
Park hasn't performed as well as expected absolutely no need to turn on him unless of course you could in any way convince readers on here that if you were to go back in time and then suggest a better midfield signing for QPR. The board was united in cheering his arrival it was a brilliant signing and in fact still is! The boy has proved how could he is and will be picked again .. Big Tip stop watch the ball lads for 30 seconds and just watch Park you will learn a lot in that 30 secs about football
He was a TF signing not a Hughes one I think. At least I'll get an away ticket at Barnsley after all the plastic Korean fans have migrated to Swansea
Has been the most disappointing signing up to the last three games where there has been a significant improvement. May be getting back to the player we thought we had bought.
I think he has already retired ................... it is just that the paychecks keep coming in ...............
Bambi is going to leave the country before he gets shot https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...ygZqvcY4ch2ZzYj-g&sig2=f_zPctOKbNv6LnmHjUJjEA
Totally post of the week ... "We are in the fight of our lives i **** you not" ... Col's on board and focussed on what we need to hope for I cannot applaud that enough. For some again: (as I have harped on forever) ... Positive energy back the team and let the talent we have prove us all wrong ... apart from me and Col I know how good these players can be: Sign up below ... we have to do this or die trying DT Col
It seems like some want him to fail and are disappointed if he does something right, the bloke who sits behind me for a start who sighs and says he was lucky or "I could have done that" if Park does a great tackle or pass. It does my head in.
He does not like Sheperd's Bush area , where he is living in a B+B for the last few months . He did not buy a house in Holland Park , when he moved to West London . He still has a cottage up North . He bought big shares in Samsung with his dosh .
