People don't notice how much of a good footballer Chester is, yes McShane has played much better than before this season as an out and out defender this season but he doesn't offer our team anywhere near as much as Chezzy. The cross field balls Chester plays out to Brady often look more like Xabi Alonso than a championship centre back. People that are saying he hasn't been as good this season have to look at when we have conceded. It hasn't been because Chester is out of position or doing anything wrong, it is when Elmo/Meyler/Brady etc don't track back fast enough and he is left with an overlap, which is the price you pay for our formation. He is still a brilliant player and his quality and assurance on the ball is second to none for his position in the division.

I agree with those saying Chester has not hit the heights this season that he did last season when he was superb

I find it hard to argue with Peter Swan on his list actually , he gets a lot of stick so I'll give him some credit

I don't he has made more mistakes this season, he is definitely below par. The defence is not as solid as it was last season hence the tonkings we got from Palace and Bolton to name but two.

    Don't be silly now!

I definitely agree with the top two, Elmo and Brady have been brilliant.

I think playing 3 centre backs disrupts his natural ability. It's like asking Lewis Hamilton to race race in a Land Rover.

Hard to pick 5 this year. I wouldn't say Mcshane is our best player but he is definitely the most improved.

Hard to disagree with Swann's picks but Chester has to be in the top-5 for his consistency and ever presence. I'd leave Aluko out simply because he hasn't played enough. As a full-timer he'd definitely be included. So for me.

    Elmo
    Brady
    Chester
    Quinn
    Macca

Agree with the above whole heartedly. The best centre half iin the championship by a country mile.

I only hope we dont lose him to a big money bid close season, because the lad is fast becoming the shining star of the team.

As has been said you hardly know he is there because he is that good, solid performance week in week out.

Plus you can write what Swanny knows about football on a stamp, going on some of the **** he puts out most weeks.

Two games less than Brady and three less than McShane should hardly rule Aluko out.

OK mate, That last post of mine was a bit strong! I don't think I ever referred to him being the best player in the world did I? But I do think he has been equal, if not better, than our other centre backs when he has played. For consistency Chester wins hands down over two seasons but this season he has been no where near as consistant as he was last season. Quite rightly someone else posted that maybe the new formation has unsettled him a bit this season and he did not settle to it as quickly as he might of.

For me it would be :

    Elmo
    Quinn
    Brady
    Aluko
    Macca

But in all honesty, they've all done very well this season.

I think the vast majority if not all agree Elmo has been PotY, a far cry from when we were first interested and quite a few were worried after reading all the Sunlan fans offer to drive him here themselves.

If its most improved player then Macca wins hands down ,but player of the season I dont think so. I agree with most of Swannys choices but believe Chester for his ever presence and consistent displays we now take for granted should feature in there somewhere. Also Mayler is in or around there for me

People NEVER seem to learn that a player can be absolute **** at one club and a hero at another!

That being said Elmo has undoubtedly been assisted by the drop in standard between EPL and Championship.

    Brady or Elmo for me.

Aluko's been out for half a season so it's hard to give it to him however great he was beforehand.

The clue's in the name Player of the Season.

is this a charity award? you all feel sorry for mcshane's lack of innate talent that you seem completely overwhelmed by his "tryer's" attitude?
By that standard Mclean should have been our best player last season and this season.

WHat a load of ****ing horse ****e.

Just because a turd has been a little bit polished this year doesn't mean it's not a turd any more.

I am expecting him to **** up any minute now... oh and he will! mark my words. What concerns me is the timing. I'd rather he ****s up now than at wembley.
