Is this thread meant to be "Top British Band" or "My Favourite British Band"?

As much as I like the Stereophonics, Oasis etc to call them the best British band is borderline ridiculous.

As for Coldplay and Snow Patrol...

I always make that point of difference and people think Im ****ing stupid saying "its the same thing". It really isnt, my favoutrite football teams are Hull City and Internazionale but I dont think they're the best.

Strangely though, my favourite British band is The Smiths and I DO think they're the best <laugh>

Which 'one good song' did The Verve, Oasis and Blur make before 'albums of mediocrity'?

Arctic Monkeys (as you could have guessed)
    Oasis
    The Vaccines
    Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
    Kasabian
    The Enemy
    Klaxons
    The Verve
    The Rolling Stones
    The Stone Roses
    The Fratellis
    Stereophonics

I like Coldplay, but they wouldn't be in my favourites.

You'll find most people who slate Oasis and The Verve are the ones who haven't really listened to them. They will have heard songs such as Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Bittersweet Symphony etc (the more successful singles) and made their judgement from them.

Nothing winds me up more when I hear people talk about Oasis who only know Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger.

When people say to me, "Yeah, I like Oasis" I get them to name as many songs as possible, not including Wonderwall, Morning Glory, Don't Look Back In Anger etc. They can't. <laugh>

    Hear Hear! <ok>

Hatful Of Hollow is a masterpiece, even if it is 'technically' not a studio album..

I bought Supersonic the day it came out and saw them live at the Adelphi in front of 400 as well as their first ever arena show when The Verve were supposed to suppor them until Nick McCabe broke his hand the week before. Beat that.

    I don't think I can beat it, I wasn't even alive then.

I did see The Verve AND Oasis at The Roundhouse in London, in 2008 and 2009 respectively...
