Another one of Gary Anderson's bullet proof conclusions: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21860533 To summarize; Alonso was fastest in the last race. He only didn't win because he had to make an additional pit stop. Therefore, in Malaysia all Alonso has to do is not make more pit stops than Riakkonen. Genius! Where would we be without such insight. P.S. Riakkonen was the fastest at the last race. In case some one is not on the same page here.
Thanks I was a regular poster on 606 until it was decommissioned. Been reading you guys' comments since the exodus. Just didn't feel like joining in as I don't have the means to comment while watching live footage, where I think all the fun lies. Anyway I'll contribute my 2 cents every once in a while What prompted me to post by the way was the encouragement to sign up that has been going around lately. And the fact that no one took a jab at Martin Whitmarsh in Australia FP3 for saying that no team would go out on track because they'd need all their tyres for quali. I think 10 minutes later everyone was out
Not the biggest fan of van der Garde. We know Chilton had contact with van der Garde early in the last race and lost his front wing. Edd Straw blames van der Garde, saying that Chilton's front wing damage was "sustained when van der Garde ran wide and rejoined just in front of him". Based on Chilton's driving in GP2 I'd be inclined to agree with that (if you thought Di Resta couldn't overtake or defend, wait till you see Chilton). On van der Garde's race, Edd Straw says that he had "several offs punctuating his weekend". With that all said I was surprised with what van der Garde said in the press conference, the first thing he said was "I think it was a tough race, Max hit me in the first stint". The press conference is here:
Firstly, Happy Birthday Mr Senna Secondly, what sort of track is Malaysia, whose strengths may it play to, and will tyre-wear be as crucial this week as it was last week? I know Mercedes were strong here in 2011, and with their early pace confirmed in 2013, I'm tempted to go for them for a strong weekend. Hoping to see some gradual McClaren progress, as it will be some epic racing if we have 4 or 5 teams going hammer and tongues at the front.
I have no idea who the track layout will favour, but tyre wear will be a big factor because it's such an abrasive surface.
