Very sad to see what alcohol abuse has done to Gascoigne. Interview this morning on SKY and not a word of it can be understood. Seems like his lifestyle has taken it's toll big time. Hope he can come out the other side eventually
I saw/listened to parts of it on Sky Sports News here last night. Seemed to be irreversible damage and he looks shocking! Very sad what talented people have done to themselves in so many cases.
it's a shame that some people very talented can't handle what success bring to them and they go off the rails. I think the whole footballing world hope for the best for Gazza and his family
Trouble is, he's got an agent that lets him do this!!
I think it certainly is in the case of young players with obvious weaknesses in their character. Its easy for people of my age to be critical of young, wealthy sportsmen when they go off the rails. However, it's a fair test for anyone. Give any twenty year old say 30k a week and see how many would handle it. In some cases their parents may be no help either so the role of the agent is vital
Great footballer in his time but Sorry, got no sympathy for him, he's even making money out of his "condition"
Point taken. So we are talking in the present tense then, not in all the years that have passed since he stopped playing?
No, no, no.... This did not happen overnight. This has been going on for years. Not conceding this one to you.
I don't see this as having sympathy for the individual, rather I see it as a sad commentary that this has happened to an individual who had a talent and could have used it productively and lucratively to live a great life and instead has landed up in this condition.
Exactly Jonny, he had it all and has blown it, because he is weak willed, i wish him well, but its his own doing, some of his friends have paid for him to go to rehab, and hasn't he let them down by going back on the booze, if he can't help himself, why should anyone else help him.
