Utd wanted to keep Ronaldo, Real wanted Ronaldo, Ronaldo wanted to leave
Liverpool wanted to keep Torres
Spurs wanted to keep Modric
Liverpool wanted to keep Alonso
Arsenal wanted to keep Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, RVP, Cole, Song, Toure and the rest

Can't think of many players who were approached by a bigger / richer club and wanted to leave but ended up staying. Maybe for another year, but as soon as they fancy the exit it's a matter of when rather than if.

Re Fergie, yeah a manager crying to the media and crying to public opinion like that over a player that is actually not even world class though he can do world class things now and again in flashes.. Pretty weak if you ask me.


No one said Torres wasn't leaving cept Torres We got the best out of him. Why would anyone be impressed by "I'm staying" and then going, especially when Liverpool made whim what he was!! We put the ****er up there, only at Liverpool was he ever considered world class, seems to me it was his loss not ours, what's he been like since? he also gave up the chance to have a partnership with Luis Suarez and traded utter adoration for abuse and booing and for what, warming the bench and CL medal he did not earn

I always say that no player is indispensable and if they leave then you try and replace him with better....All suarez has done is say he will talk to clubs about whats on offer......meaning he has made it known he is not 100% committed to liverpool during the summer break and is open to offers, If he gets nothing concrete then im sure he will stay and will be 100% committed.... thats football i suppose...

Luis Suárez claimed yesterday that reports that he will be willing to listen to offers to leave Liverpool in the summer were the result of “twisted words”.

The Liverpool forward, who is on international duty with Uruguay, had given an interview in which he indicated that he would be prepared to leave Anfield for a Champions League side, but player and club insisted that he had been misquoted.

“I’m sad to read these things,” Suárez told a radio reporter. “When it’s in England, I accept it and understand, but I do not expect my words to be twisted over here.

 

I feel sorry to Suarez with the reaction to his comments. Who here could honestly say that, if they were in Suarez's boots, they wouldn't consider an approach from Barcelona or Real Madrid right now? and I am saying that whether he plays for Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, etc too! The two Spanish clubs are the best in the game at present and they are competing in the current best league too.

Also, I am pretty sure Suarez said he wanted to play for Barcelona one day when he joined us. A lot of us didn't have a problem with this at the time because for him to get that move he would have to play out of his skin for Liverpool!

Note: this does not mean I think he will leave or that his comments were designed to encourage a move

 

No offence, but I'm fed up going over this all the time. Can't we just wait and see what happens? The arguments and the counter arguments are all plausible, but none of us know what's going to happen.

 

Agreed! Problem is, some of us are just making a joke of it whereas others are taking I seriously, that makes for a bad combination
