Generally agree but there are people about that find spending this amount of money on something others would regard as reckless quite normal. This would be their reality

Anyone spending that sort of coin on a number plate, has far more cash than me, I suspect it's someone who's very wealthy indeed.

The obvious one would be Ehab, but I've seen someone claiming it wasn't him.

Somebody has more money than sense.

Another option - go with a plate ""T1 GER"" * and it would be far more cheaper than £46k+ :D (assuming that its not in use already)

    * format(letter-number space-3 letters) for cars from 1982 onwards apparantly.

I suspect it would go for a similar amount.

T111 GER is a rubbish version, but it's currently on sale for £13,500.00.

Hull City number plate HU11 CTY bought for £46k by mystery bidder

A MYSTERY businessman has snapped up a footballing number plate for £46,736 at an auction in Leeds. The HU11 CTY plate went under the hammer this morning with a reserve of £900. But interest was so great bidding started at £4,600. The auction climaxed with a showdown between two competitors.

A phone bidder was beaten by the Hull businessman, apparently a lifelong City fan. Bidding reached £36,000 when the gavel went down to thunderous applause in the auction house. VAT and other fees increased the total by £10,736.

It was the highest-selling plate so far in a three-day DVLA auction at the De Vere Village Leeds South Hotel. Event manager Jody Davies said: "We're absolutely delighted. "It was an extremely thrilling and exciting sale.

"There were a lot of people in the room when it came down to two people locking horns and when the gavel finally went down everybody clapped."

Thought it would get to £20k, £36k for that plate is excessive.
