It seems he will make a decision about his future at the end of this season.

Naturally I suppose it depends on what league we're in:

Watford striker Matej Vydra has suggested he will wait until the end of the season before making a decision on whether to join the club on a permanent basis.

Vydra has enjoyed an impressive season at Vicarage Road on loan from Udinese and Watford are keen to sign the 20-year-old on a long-term deal.

But, with the Hornets pushing for promotion to the Premier League and just two points off second spot, Vydra is in no rush to decide.

"We'll see if we win promotion or stay in the Championship," Vydra told CTK. "I like it at Watford and would like to continue to play there.

"After all, I've built something there already.

"I don't know if I'm ready for it (the Premier League), but who would not like to try this competition at my age. Even younger players are there, but we'll see."

Vydra has scored 20 goals this season, but is currently on his worst run of the campaign after failing to find the net in four appearances and he puts this down to closer attention from defenders.

He added: "Recently when I'm on the ball, I'm either sent down to the ground or I have two defenders to deal with.

"It's obvious that they are defending me more thoroughly than they were in the past.

"Everybody wants to pick up points and the aim of each club is to shut out the best scorer of the opposing team."

I would like to see Matej Vydra in the top league with Watford, for one season at least. That is the possibility if we are promoted but I think he will leave if we do not rise. I do not see him returning to Udinese to play for them in Serie A, if he returns and will be sold.

Its rumored hes going to Cardiff when they get promoted. We've got a former friend of his family as backroom staff or something.

Also heard that the Cardiff owners were going to change the kit colour again, but this time to Yellow so that all of the staff and players feel more at home. <laugh>

One of 3 things will happen. He will go back to Udinese and play for them. He will sign permanently for Watford. Or someone will come in with an offer the Pozzo family cannot refuse.

Udinese signed him for just over £2.6m nearly 3 years ago, as a relatively unknown. I suspect for the Pozzo's to even consider selling him, the transfer bid would have to be at least treble that. The Pozzo way of doing things is to sell a player when they consider them to be at their peak value. I doubt they consider Vydra to be close to this, so they will attmept to sign him on a long contract to either Watford or Udinese

My only worry is he will be entering the last year of his contract in the summer, so if it looks like he won't sign, then they might have to sell.... but would be to someone in the top half of either the Premiership or Seria A

Fortunately for us, Matej Vydra was born south of the Arctic circle.

It was once rumoured that a London bus was found on the moon and that Manky McKay was loyal to Watford ... I'd forget about rumours if I were you and concentrate on reality

Pretty well thought out, seems to cover what most of us are feeling and I do agree that GFZ needs to take a step back and look at his team selections when we were at our best. He was rotating the squad more back then and it seemed to be working. By keeping a similar starting line up (excluding injuries) it allows other teams to counter them, whereas a changing team is much harder to figure out.

Seems to me like Vydra is not so much the problem as his service. We are not getting the ball to him as we used to... not like he's turned into a lazy tub o' lard ("duke"), profligate (any number of our former strikers) or just plain inept (Devon White, anyone?). No, he is still invariably shooting on target (not every time obviously, but still a higher ratio than most) but he is not quite getting the ball in those positions. I think that is more down to the rest of the team than he - notwithstanding the oppo at any given time of course. A victim of his own success.
Hopefully things will improve for the final push after the international break.

i think it's a bit of both, but certainly the midfield is lacking, and that's not helping either end of the pitch. Let's hope Abdi gets back, and we manage to give Hogg and Yeates a well earned rest ;)

They should give it to him just to annoy Holloway as it would mean that both the player he currently manages and the one he used to manage miss out. :)

I mentioned the other day that Liverpool sent 2 scouts to watch Vydra play for Czechs in Armenia earlier this week, and someone mentioned why not just watch Watford.Apparently Liverpool were watching Henrikh Mikitaryan of Armenia at the same match

    Thye were scouting both
