What should he have said ffs? "Right, I'd better alter my tactics and selections to appease the chattering classes in the concourses'' No manager in his right mind would take fans' opinions seriously. Maybe most managers just humour the simpleton fans by pretending they give a **** and the phone-in knobheads' views are valid. I just don't get why a minority of posters demand some kind of personal nice treatment or comments from the manager. Win, that's all we ask. (That's not too much is it?)
Including Burnsy who I detected hated interviewing him, whereas interviewing SB he seems to enjoy a bit of banter with him.
See my previous response. Why do you need his nice chat and interview persona? What difference does it make? It's wins we want not chat. One away win at Bramall Lane > 10,000 friendly interviews. Are you getting it yet blud ?
He doesn't have to do what the fans want, though it's fairly sensible to explain why you're not doing what the fans want. He's probably about to be sacked because he's lost the fans, largely due to the way he interacts with them, if losing your job due to being an obnoxious twat is good management, somebody better tell Bruce, Redknapp, Moyes and a whole host of other managers who don't seem to have twigged yet.
So has he lost the fans for his recent poor results or his media persona? How do you view SAF's media persona? To me he seems abrupt, vindictive, confrontational, manipulative and even childish. But the crazy thing is he's kept his job! Now I wonder why that could be?
If you're losing games, then ****ing the fans off after games is not very bright. Fergie is the most successful football manager in the world ever, he can get away with the odd rant and he remains far better in interviews than Pearson. The sooner he realises that not being popular is not an attribute, the better off he'll be.
Just one question. IF Nigel Pearson was **** ....How come he took us on our longest Ever Unbeaten away from home run ever ... I liked his interviews , why should he answer stupid questions burnsey often asked him . All Phil Brown ever did was Blame everyone else everytime we lost.
Fergie bans journalists, papers and the tv channels he doesn't like. He destroys journalists publicly and doesn't lose sleep over it. He creates a climate of fear and undue deference. He is routinely rude or sends someone else to chat if he doesn't feel up to it. Not sure what you mean by 'far better'. Would that be more friendly, more open, more jovial .......or more self-critical, more analytical and more 'honest'?
We're discussing if he's **** in interviews, nobody is suggesting we lost an away game due to one of his interviews.
The away form counts for nothing when we couldn't win at home. Honestly, what "stupid" questions did Burns ask? Does he ask the same questions to Bruce? If Nigel Pearson had took us (or anyone) to the Premiership then you could compare him to Brownie. As he's done neither, he's not even fit to lace his boots.
Should have said this at the start of the thread - he's not a flat top, if anything it's a truncated egg shape with very flat ears. Let's have it right.
One is the most successful manager in the world, the other has done pretty much **** all so far. If your greatest ever achievement is getting a team out of League One on a Championship budget and you're losing your games with one of the biggest budgets in the league, then you have to be one stupid **** to be patronising and disrespectful to the fans. Pearson is both and it will almost certainly cost him his job. Which is fine by me, I think it's fully deserved.
He's **** in interviews, it pisses people off, you know it, I know it. I really can't be arsed to discuss this nonsense any further.
You know it and I know it that people who focus on trivial **** like 'poor interaction with Burnsy' are beyond redemption......
TWF - serious non-wumming question. If Bruce does get us up will you give him the same respect you have for Brown. Aren't most local sports reporters all of the same standard, there is only one off the top of my head who has progressed from covering a team to being the main anchorman of a regional news programme (and that is Roger Johnson - who used to be the GMR Manchester United person). And if we are on manager's reactions with local media - the Aston Villa manager must beat Pearson in terms of being an absolute prat
