I think he, like many people who've 'left' just need a bit of time to cool off, calm down and realise that this is just an internet forum, with no inherent importance whatsoever.

I can definitely sympathise with him re: the whole mod thing - can get a bit tedious when everyone's shouting "You're a mod! You must be like this! And this! How dare you post this as a mod! A real mod would never do that! Blah blah mod blah!". Wait a minute, just let me check my Official Laws of Modding[SUP]TM[/SUP] for detailed guidance on how to handle this situation to ensure everyone is happy and smiley. Yeah, like that will ever happen :)

I can sympathise with him, what with many of you guys taking things a lot more seriously than many of the other forums, but I think a sense of perspective on the whole thing is very necessary.

I think people in general just need to not take this thing so seriously. Don't visit the damn forum every day, and make sure to close all the windows and forget the thing exists every once in a while. It's not Dragon's Den, there's absolutely no need to be "in" or "out", just use the forum when you want, and if you don't then don't.

    The little bold bit.. <laugh>

You just can't help it can you.:) There are certain expectations when you are a mod and when you let yourself down in that department it gets noticed. Mods are supposed to moderate not engage in tripe, it's a sacrifice you make when choosing to become a mod IMO

    But some reasonable points<ok>

Thanks Gerrez. Just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water <yikes> I can't really believe this and I don't know what can be done about it. It's ****ing surreal.

  5. Although I understand where you are coming from since I have had a lot of **** about being a MOD since becoming one (mainly piss taking mind), I don't entirely agree but I think it depends on the individual concerned. I'm a very tolerant and laid back person so the stick I get tends to bounce off me TBH, especially as it's 'just an internet forum' as you put it. Nor do I do anything different to what I did prior to becoming a MOD, I certainly don't go reading through everything looking to moderate stuff <laugh> I expect all posters to take responsibility for their own actions and if there is a problem, someone should tell one of the boards MOD's for them to have a look. Of course, if I come across something then I will deal with it in what I think to be the most appropriate way, this is the only time something different might happen since I may feel the need to discuss it with the other MOD's <ok>

Completely disagree with you there. Being a mod is a very limited role which is basically just given to anyone who can be trusted not to abuse their mod powers and support the general wishes of the member of their own forum. It has no bearing on anything other than the ability to ban and delete on our own forums. I can't say I've ever looked at someone's profile, noticed it said 'Moderator' and thought "Right, this guy must behave in a certain way". It's not like we take some vow of posting celibacy!

Your argument, imo, is akin to saying that there are certain expectations placed on the landlord of a pub, and they therefore should never get pissed in any other pub.

I completely agree with you there. My point is that for guys like us it is fine - people give us ****, either seriously or in jest, about being a mod and it just bounces off. But it seems that more serious posters like Ze find it harder to just ignore the inevitable whining, complaining and conflicting expectations that is part of the role.

  7. Exactly. End of the day, we are all here to access an internet forum, something we must all enjoy doing otherwise why do it? Why should that change if you become a MOD? And why would anyone ever become a MOD if that was the case?

More to the point, why would you ever write 'mod' all in capitals?

    Attention seeking much? <whistle>
